Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2018 applicants thread

Wow. Anahita - a Persian goddess :slight_smile: good luck

Yeah I don’t get why people are checking their portals when it’s clear that the decisions are sent by email.

@wandilecosa13: Anahita is a name of a Persian deity (as yetanotherid said lol). I’m Persian (Iranian)

Because we’re all desperately trying to be the exception to that rule :wink: But logic prevails, I guess.

Beautiful. Living in Iran or in the US?

I’m S. African :)

Thanks!

I was born and raised in Iran. I’ve only been to two neighboring countries to take SAT and ACT lol

Only 3 hours to go!

3 hours to go, and only an hour until my 2 hour physics exam…

Ah. I’ve felt really sorry for everyone still in school. I graduated a month ago. Life’s been a beach - all of the Harvard stress notwithstanding :slight_smile:

That’s quite a story :slight_smile: Good luck!

This is a nice community :)

It is, I hope it doesn’t get bitter after the decisions…

Ok not even kidding someone please tell me what this portal thing is

When you applied to Harvard, they sent you an email and gave you a link. You should have made a password and logged into the portal. It’s not really important it just shows the stuff you have sent to the school.

And it explitely says (or said) that decisions will not be posted there. People are just a bit overexcited, it seems (:

Well that royally sucks, if I never logged in does that effect admission?

Okay, let me explain the 3 portals:

 1. The applicant login link. This was to check if Harvard got your SAT/ACT scores, recommendation letters, transcript, and other application materials. No decisions will be put out on this portal. This is currently down, but it has been up for the past few months and will be back up tomorrow. People on here are saying that whether or not you can access it or not is indicative of your admissions decision, which I don’t personally agree with. https://admapp.admissions.fas.harvard.edu/ha/Applicant/ApplicantFrame.html?utm_source=SilverpopMailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=application_acknowledgment_10292013%20(1)</a></p>

The admitted student portal. This website is currently down but is expected to be back up at 3:00 pm EST TODAY when decisions are released. Lore has it that at 3:00, admitted students will be able to log in and deferred/rejected applicants will not. The OFFICIAL email regarding our admissions decision should have a link to this website with instructions on how to log in IF we are accepted. Desperate students sometimes try to log in for an early but unofficial way to find out their admissions status. https://college.harvard.edu/admitted-studentsadmitted/</a></p></li>

The current student login. This doesn’t really pertain to us, it is for enrolled Harvard students. It is obviously still up. <a href=“Log in | Harvard”>Log in | Harvard;

I hope the above was helpful :D

BSA94yo: If you have sent all your test scores and material I wouldn’t worry about it.

WeIsCool - the Admitted students page is up and the link is :
https://college.harvard.edu/admitted-students</a>
but i see - You are not authorized to access this page.

Thanks bud

@yeatanotherid
They can “take it down” by denying access to it without actually taking the content down. It seems like that would be way easier than taking the whole thing down.

Doeden- that makes lot of sense

It almost certainly does not affect your admission :)

@AnnaTheGreat: Have you ever visited Karachi?

No, I went to Turkey and Armenia. Turkey was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun. We don’t have an American embassy here either so I have to make another trip for an embassy interview. This time I think I’ll go to Dubai. This process of applying to US colleges was expensive but really fun :D
