Thursday, 5 pm EST = D Day

What’s gonna happen to this thread when decisions are out?

Let me know if any soul from India has received that vaulted Interview!

@MissDianaKhr I’m glad I was able to help and thank u! And I just treat others the way I would want to be treated myself! Lol and I have no secret , I also freak out sometimes… I guess I just keep on reminding myself that my ultimate goal is to become a lawyer and help others not to be a graduate from Harvard! YES, Harvard honestly means so much to me and I really want to get in, real badly, but I try to focus on positive aspects! This Harvard journey has really helped me a lot and made me a stronger person!
@nomatterwhat you literally brought a tear in my eye! Thank u so much, you are really kind! Trust me, you urself are awesome and I believe that you will achieve much no matter where you go, but hopefully it’s Harvard
(I really mean it)
Thank you guys :'D

So the order of decisions is rejections, after that defferals and then acceptances? What time it takes to send out the acceptances after rejections/defferals?

@MissDianaKhr Basically next to everyone’s name there’s 3 check boxes, rejection, deferral, or acceptance, and the check one. Then they have the computer send out all 5,000 emails, and based on where the chek is you get your respective email. Acceptances don’t really come out later, it’s just statistically more likely that the earliest reports are of rejections/deferrals because there’s significantly more of those.

@PcollegegirlP I trully think that your goal is alike to Harvard students, cuz those guys came there to prove all the world that their high academic achevements along with the willingness to help people can change the universe for better.

We were talking about her Questbridge letter - Yale did not accept her.

Remember - outside scholarships usually diminish financial need which diminishes financial aid. Not to say that you shouldn’t try for outside scholarships but, more money, no matter where it comes from, often translates to less financial aid from colleges. Not sure what Harvard’s policy is on outside scholarships and aid.

So acceptances emails really DON’T come out later than rejections/deferrals?

@zerowulf, where do we see those boxes?

@Northernmom61 - let me talk from a parent’s perspective. Harvard and Yale are basically the same when it come to financial aid and I have a freshman there now and do recruiting for Yale (as an alumni). Both have endowments in the stratosphere and are not hurting for money by no means.

As one of those people on the cusp, comfortably upper middle class but definitely not able to shell out $61,000 a year, I can say that schools like Yale and Harvard are doable. When I got my D’s financial aid package this time last year, the numbers sent me into a panic. There was no way we could pay that and eat, more less pay our bills. I did an appeal and they dropped the amount by $13,000, a savings of $1,000 a month if you are on the 10 month payment plan.

Is it still a struggle to pay what they expect? Yes. But my H and I made the commitment. We can pay our mortgage, car notes, utilities, and other basic bills. We also are able to do some non essential things like light travel (no two week Alaskan cruises despite our empty nest) and a treat of a new pair of shoes every once in awhile. We can also afford to send spending money to our D, who obviously has other needs beyond tuition. But, can we renovate our kitchen (much needed), put down the hardwood floors I want, or buy a 2015 BMW - NO!!! But to us the sacrifice is worth it. My D is in heaven at Yale and I would pay my last dime for that.

@MissDianaKhr honestly, thank u, ur words mean a lot to me! Let us all hope for the best! I hope u all the best for D-Day …and don’t worry about the interview!
We all got this ;D

@nomatterwhat We don’t- it is in their system. They are probably going over that list now/tomorrow/thursday, double-checking that no one is placed in the wrong “pile”.

Oh ok thanks @steinway :)

Exactly 2 days to go guys :s

2 more nights…

2 days!

I was just called by an alumnus for an interview at 5 p.m. this Thursday. Can anyone make heads or tails of this? This is my first interview and I haven’t had any previous contact with any Harvard reps.
