Does anyone else think that the portal will crash?

I got a 1600/2400 on my SAT, do I have a chance in getting in ? (I came to the U.S 2 years ago)

An hour late for the admitted students?

@youngster9 I do hope that’s the case!! That would be great.

@soccerlover17 I literally played Sims 3 all afternoon and evening. And I hadn’t played in ages.

How many of you received an email in November month asking you to submit specific supplemental information related to you? Any one missed submitting when requested?

@InAcc1996 I got asked for first quarter grades, which I submitted.

Good

Here is something to give you some kind of positive- Each of you applied because you felt you had a chance. That means that there was something that you felt made you special. Why don’t you share that? It will remind you that yes or no, you were worthy of applying and trying. What is it that makes you shine over the thousands of others that applied? What makes you feel good about yourself?

@memmsmom Aww, that is such a sweet idea! We should do that.
I love that I know I give everything I can to provide for impoverished children. No matter if Harvard or any other school sees or cares, it makes me feel like I have purpose and a passion.
I love this idea!

God I just really want to see that “Congratulations!” tomorrow…

@amberlee9 I am seriously afraid of deferral because I think I will go insane waiting that much longer for an answer! I just want a yes or no

Also to everyone who thinks this year probably had more applicants than previous years there is some evidence to go against that. To help ease your stress about the competitiveness, this year UPenn saw a 5% increase (~250 more applicants) and Dartmouth saw a 10% increase (~190 more applicants)

On the other hand Princeton lost 24 applicants, Yale lost 57, Brown lost 72, Duke lost 34. Personally I see no evidence that people switched from other elite schools to Harvard. Of course we don’t have the data on schools like MIT or Stanford yet, but stay confident! Hope this was informative, I had nothing to do during Calc 3 :)

My daughter is in a similar boat. She herself was born with cleft lip and palate and I had always joked that she was lucky that she was born to me and not in a third world country because she would have been left in the street to die. (Im a bad mom, ok… so a sarcastic one) But her goal in life is to somehow give her time as a maxillofacial surgeon to do pro bono surgeries on those kids that would have died. She recognizes that she is blessed to have such great medical care here in the US and this would be her way of paying it forward. This is what I believe would make her stand out. She on the other hand would say her super power is a photographic memory for birth dates. For some odd reason she never forgets anyone’s birthday. Sadly there is no place to put that trait on common app.
LOL

@InAcc1996 I got an email from an admissions officer asking me to submit a sample of my work at a lab.

@Memmsmom That’s such a sweet idea! I think what pushed me to apply was my lab work - I started working on my own during my sophomore year without a program (most programs don’t take sophomores) simply because I knew I wanted to go into research. I thought that maybe H would like the passion I’ve put into my work for the past 1.5 years, but regardless of what they decide, it’s my proudest accomplishment and I love working there.

That is so neat. And she could add the birth date superpower if she ever writes a ‘letter to your roommate essay!’ That would be unique.

Great! They read your application, past the computer, and followed up with you. Then you did your best!

@appanxiety , She is active in a statewide service organization and its her stupid party trick to go down the line telling everyone their birthdays. She has been known to stalk cute guy’s profiles and will happen to remember their birthday. She has embarrassed herself many times by giving it away that she stalked them.

I am so incredibly nervous.

@Jamole don’t worry! The fact that you applied shows a lot of courage and not everyone in your place would have that courage! And by tomorrow you will know the decision! Never lose that courage of yours, no matter what happens tomorrow, I’m sure your courage will take you very high one day!

@appanxiety I think I will take a deferral as rejection
