That’s crazy I was born with a cleft lip too… Well there goes my uniqueness factor

Just a little more than 24 hours!
Our goal: crash the applicant portal
@hnorelle I’ve done a lot of research too! Also not through a program in sophomore year
If I’m admitted, I’ll concentrate in classics, though. If not, I’ll major in something that will get me a job after college.

The last few days i stayed positive, believing that i might have a chance, but then today i read an article about this amazing kid who had accomplished so much even in his times of difficulties and eventually got accepted to harvard. after I figured that my grades and extracurriculars are nothing compared to his, I dont feel the anxiety anymore. I think i already know what I’ll get tmrw. This is painful

When do you think the admission statistics will come out?

@PcollegegirlP thank you very much :), I came from Syria 2 years ago because of the civil war. So I am trying to leverage my Syrian background to get in. I also have good recommendation letters and ECs. We will see

I’m nervous though, 9 applied from my school.

I don’t think minority status should be a justification imo. That’s a little unfair.

I have a feeling that if we have to log into the portal tomorrow at 5pm for decisions, the portal will definitely crash!

I don’t think any of the Ivy bound kids at my school even applied to harvard. A lot of them are looking at Yale, Dartmouth, and UPenn. No early action either.

When will the applicant statistics be released?

I already know I’m getting rejected so as the time nears I’m getting calmer actually. Just ready to get this over with and wait for spring acceptances !

And christmas!

Those who are nervous about decisions:
I’m seeing many of us already glum about the decisions. It’s true, it’s undeniable that many of us will be deferred. But while there is a lot of disappointment and discouragement associated with a deferral, please don’t pity yourself at the prospect. There is nothing to pity; college is a path to something new, a means to further your education, a fork in your road. The closing of one fork does not define you, for college is not an end goal. Good luck to everyone!

and remember there are a lot of great schools still out there!!!

@Memmsmom That’s a really good idea! I like that I’m very artistic and driven while remaining a grounded and balanced person. (Also, I laughed so hard at your daughter’s stalking story!)

please someone answer: is it bad if harvard doesn’t ask for supplements mid-november? or test scores etc.?

agenda for tmrw: crash the portal (which sounds like a metal band’s name)

@easycadence That only means that they can make a decision without it. :)

@harvard00 In my opinion, it’s about the particular disadvantages and challenges that minorities too often face.

my kid isn’t applying to harvard but i’m hanging out here because it’s been 1 year since i joined CC and the harvard acceptance board is where I started.

As the decisions were released, I followed in live time and two candidates have been on my mind over the past year. One had a 2400 SAT, had founded a small but influential technology service, and had ridden his bike across Canada to raise money for cancer research (raising > $30,000). He was not accepted (and wow was he mad, LOL). The other was an international student with a 30 ACT. no subject tests, and limited formalized studies. She got in.

Which is all to say…you literally never know.
