Had my interview today…it was fantastic…easily better than any other interview I’ve ever experienced, mostly because I’m usually a very quiet, introverted guy. Some advice for people who still haven’t had interviews:

1) Show up early if you’re in a public place. Helps you familiarize yourself with the surroundings, AND ensures that hopefully you get a seat. If I had showed up at the designated time, we wouldn’t have gotten a table.

2) Relax. Literally the first thing my interviewer said to me, before going to get a cup of coffee to let me clear my head. It must have been obvious how tense I was lol

3) Talk about what you know. You don’t need to demonstrate that you’ve memorized the literature on Harvard’s website, or even close. Talk about anything that interests you, and you should be able to naturally come back to talking about Harvard. Half of my answers had nothing much to do with Harard on the surface until I brought them back around (I distinctly remember rambling about Tolkien and the Silmarrillion for 5 minutes)

4) Kinda related to #3…if the interview is asking really Harvard specific questions, don’t be afraid to use examples from your own life…don’t just stick to boring answers that you think they want to hear…they want to hear something interesting that they can actually talk about.

Might depend to a point on who interviews you, but I’m confident anyone applying here is solid enough to nail their interview Good luck guys!

I had my interview earlier this week and it was fantastic! Lasted for an hour and a half. My advice for those of you who have not interviewed yet is to try to make your interview like a conversation. One way to do this is to ask just as many questions as your interviewer asks you. Also, make sure you listen to details when your interviewer speaks and try to ask genuine questions relating to those details. I would also recommend giving your interviewer a business card at the end, if you have any, and also make sure you SAY “THANK YOU!” And always email the interviewer after (my interviewer emailed me before I even had the opportunity to email him). Anyways, I wish the best of luck to all of you, and if you guys want any more advice regarding interviews, feel free to message me!

@aranshghs lol idk if my answer was good!
Just to tell u how my interview went, it was AMAZING, I really connected with my interviewer and he really liked me and it was a friendly conversation overall…
So back to the question.when he asked me this, I smiled, and in my head said “who doesn’t know harvard?” … I then said " well, I remember reading my history books and seeing how lots of presidents etc went to harvard, later on when my teacher advised me to apply to Harvard, I researched harvard even more! Well I dont really remember how I came to know about Harvard… Who doesn’t know about Harvard?"
That was my answer, lol come to think of it, I did a really bad job answering it… But I think the rest of the interview made up for it!!! That was definitely a weird question… Lol (can’t stop smiling haha) ;

@PcollegegirlP, I think it is a good answer. My answer would just be “who doesn’t” LOL but I didn’t get that question. My interviewer was extremely cool and we felt like we were friends after one hour.

I sent him a thank you e-message and he replied after a week. @PcollegegirlP, I think you can still send it. Just say I meant to send this sooner or something. Send it NOW.

This was probably discussed, but is the consensus that decisions will be released on Friday, 12/12? Idk how I’m gonna function that day lol.

My iphone does the thing where it reads the first line of the email as it pops up on the home screen. So if I see a “congratulations” I think I’ll throw it across the room haha

Haha @Melissawilliams I will probably throw my phone across the room as well! Of course, that is… if I get in hahaha. Anyways, yes, I believe decisions will be released on the 12th! Good luck to you, and everyone else who applied!

I believe they said December 11th on the likely letter for recruited athletes, so it’ll most probably be the 11th, and perhaps the 12th if they need extra time.

@Melissawilliams Oh gosh. I thought about that too! I was wondering if the preview would actually show the first line of the actual letter of just preview until the “Dear _____”. I’m hoping my phone will only show the name on the email app :(

@calliemoon11 Wow If they release it on the 11th and I don’t get in, which is probably going to be the case, I don’t know how I will function at school the next day.
