Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

i sent in my first marking period grades just incase although they didnt ask for it

I sent in my first quarter grades, but they did not ask. On their website, it says that these reports are optional, however, I believe that you should send them in if you can and if they will help your application at all and make you a stronger candidate

@jaredcohen how did you send your first quarter grades? I’m doing Princeton SCEA and I’m wondering if I should just email the official grade report to them? Thanks!

@Ambitious19‌ I asked my counselor to send them once they were released, and she sent them directly to Harvard in her report that she is required to send.

I got an email for an interview! Finally! Also, my school is on the trimester system… Do you think if I have my counselor send the grades from this trimester (which would be in around Thanksgiving), it

Post didn’t finish for some reason… I meant to ask if it would make any difference. They’re As with multiple APs.

@jaredcohen Okay I see. My school is on the semester system, so we don’t have official first quarter grades that go on our transcript. They’re more of an informal way of gauging how well we’re doing in our classes, and only the final semester grade is officially recorded. I’ll talk to my guidance counselor about it.

My school also is on the semester system, and though we get first quarter grades, they aren’t a part of my official transcript. However, Harvard requested mine, so I wonder how that will affect my result!

Hey guys. This video should make you feel much better about your chances of getting into Harvard. hahaha <a href=“Harvard Students Know ISIS Better than Pledge of Allegiance - YouTube”>Harvard Students Know ISIS Better than Pledge of Allegiance - YouTube;

@calliemoon11, how do you know Harvard requested them? Did your counselor tell you?

Also, I think they only request quarter grades if some of your previous grades are questionable, like if you were getting B’s in sophomore year, and junior year you got a few more A’s, they need to see if you are continuing to make progress. Or if you had a random grade drop at the end of junior year for some reason or another, they need to make sure it was just a flub and not you slacking off at the end of your high school career. If they didn’t request them at all it means your grades look good, or they look so awful there is no need to consider you. @skslxxbjk

@HobbitTon‌ Yes, my counselor told me that Harvard contacted them asking for my grades.
@oxoxhawja3xoxo‌ That would make sense! While I don’t have any weird grade fluctuations, I’m definitely not a top student academically, and I have a few Bs thrown into the mix. I’m hoping my ECs will overpower that. D:

On another note, this thread has really exploded over the past week. XD

You only submit your family’s 2013 tax return if it included income or losses from a business, farm, trust, or rental real estate, or if your family has an interest in a corporation or partnership.

@ekroxx‌ that’s great !! :slight_smile:
@oxoxhawja3xoxo‌ I definitely hope that that’s the case because I haven’t been asked for my grades … Trying not to freak out!
@calliemoon11‌ haha indeed this thread is exploding, imagine how it will be a week before decisions come out!

I had my first major panic over decisions day yesterday…it has begun.

Lol I panic every single day! I constantly find myself thinking about Harvard! My heart skips a beat every time I realize that harvard admission committee might be talking about me :confused:
WOULD U GUYS RATHER GET DEFFERED OR WOULD U RATHER HAVE A YES OR NO? ??? ?

Deferred! Though that will set me up for another three months of waiting!

@PcollegegirlP‌ definitely yes or no so I can move on with my life!
Though one would have to be pretty unqualified to get flat out rejected early
