@skslxxbjk I’m not sure about SCEA but overall I think 27% or so pick Humanities at admission but end up changing it later on – reduces the number to 17% something. Really not sure about STEM but I think about 5% pick CS…

@Melissawilliams I’m bracing myself for a deferral or rejection but if I get lucky, I might still apply to Columbia and Princeton. I will have sent out my UC and Stanford RD applications before my Harvard SCEA decision comes out. If I’m not accepted, then I’ll still apply to UPenn, UofT, and McGill.

I might apply to Yale and Princeton only, if I get in.

@Melissawilliams Even if I do get in, I’m still going to apply to Yale, UChicago, Williams, and Amherst. (And maaaybe Stanford just because it took so damn long to fill out that supplement, haha.)

My interview is on Monday!

Hi everyone! I am so anxious for decisions to come out though I know I’ll most likely get deferred haha.
Unfortunately, my app was very rushed and after reading my essays, dang they are lackluster

Hello guys ! I am applying to Harvad RD, I am from Central Asia so I got some misunderstanding in admission process. In commonApp there asks counselor to fill some application blanks. Here, in my country we do not necessarily engage school counselor or personal counselors for these because they actually do not understand the US higher education system. What do you think how I should fill the blanks? Good luck you all guys ! (It may seem to you strange to you but it is new something new for me
)

Good luck @ekroxx … Hope U all the best

Been there, done that! First of all, your school will have a principal/headmaster/ head teacher. You may ask them to act as your counselor. They will need to give details about your school, rate you on a few aspects and upload your grades, a recommendation and a school profile.

If the principal does not know you well, you might receive a very bland recommendation. Also, time may be an issue for him/her.

I would personally suggest you go to a teacher who is teaching you currently, or has taught you in the recent past, and who LIKES you. Request him/her, and guide him/her through the process, by showing online samples, helping them with technical stuff, etc. He/She can write a good personalized recommendation about you.

The teacher and the counselor recommendation are quite similar. The counselor recommendation, in addition to other things, also talks about you in context of your school and your classmates.

P.S- You cannot ask a teacher to submit 2 recommendations (as a teacher and a counselor). You would require 3 teachers for this.

@ekroxx - Are you an international student from a country that has limited interview availability? I am supposed to wait to be contacted but I haven’t received an email just yet…

so what happens if you are applying but you are a citizen of another country, like living in Europe but an American citzen? How would your application be placed in the pile?

@PcollegegirlP Thank you so much!!! It went very well for me.
@WooTheDay I’m not an international applicant. Sorry!

Is it a bad sign if Harvard didn’t ask for my first quarter grades yet? I went to guidance to make sure they were sent but the lady said that Harvard didn’t even request them.

@boxofdonuts I’m wondering this as well…I’m 80% sure my counselor sent them already tho, so that could be why they didn’t ask?

My friend already got contacted by an interviewer and I haven’t been, yet…

Harvard didn’t ask my quarter grade either. :(

@skslxxbjk I’m thinking of STEM-applied math specifically

Does harvard ask for everyone’s quarter grades?

They didn’t ask for mine afaik (and I hope they don’t!), but we run on the semester system, so my final grades aren’t in yet.

interviewer contacted me two days after my app was sent, also two of my quarter grade are F’s so…
