Yes, it is because of their short life span and rapid reproduction. The only positive I can think of for asexual reproduction is surviving near-extinction and limiting harmful mutation.

I think it was that they would have all of the adaptations of the parent. While that’s normally considered DISadvantageous, think of organisms with strong traits…making tons of copies of themselves could be useful if they’re apt to survive.

Hey, what’s up Tedjn. I recognize you from Math II.

Yeah I think that has more to do with their simplicity, which survives a variety of conditions…

Yep! I took the Bio-M last year, so I’m just here hanging out and dodging my homework. Great Expectations now shudders.

oh wait. that might not have been for that question… I forget. Do you guys remember any of the answers to the experiment questions?

Oh so we agreed that the answer was neither the mutations one nor the changing conditions one?

I thought that the answer was that it limited harmful mutations…

Oh! If that was an answer choice then it’s likely.

it meantioned limiting mutations… but harmful wasn’t mentioned…

Mutations are limited… something or another… the rest of the answers were horrible… stupid question…

for the fish one with the stipe, was it mimicry for sure? Because i thought mimicry was just a temporary behavior that could also affect physical apperance for the moment.

and yea it was mutualism twice and the grasshoppers legs were connected in the middle “b” region.

It’s batesian mimicry… I’m positive.

So for the grasshopper, the legs were attached to the middle thorax and the other 2 was the abdomen?

And what about the antibiotic one?

Still… does anyone know about the bacteria/plasmid/centromere one?
How about the “this is true of all ecosystems” one…?

for the centromere one i had no idea really but i said something about hydrolyzing the centromere, an answer no one has said here. I think that the producers have more energy than consumers has to be true.

For the grasshopper it was thorax + two “a” back answers (atleast what i said)

I don’t recall “the producers have more energy than consumers has to be true.” being an answer… was it?

umm i think it was the first choice

could we clarify the disease questions?

biggest killer - malaria
caused by parasite - malaria
can be cured by antibiotic - strep throat
eradicated except in 2 government institutions - smallpox
