@CollegeNow101 I mean it was definitely harder than Nov which had the worst curve ever. The SAT aims to trick students and this math section had a lot of questions where it was more thinking than actual mathematics.
@CollegeNow101 the sat did its job in making questions that easily trick high school students especially well on this test. So I think it’s reasonable to say -2 on this test will be around a 750
What’s a good first sat score?
2400
scores out in 6 days!
Seriously, what would you guys say is a good first score?
I’d say if you are a junior, anything above 1800 is quite solid, compared to most of your peers, that would be great. You could study a bit over the summer, and get upper 1900s in fall, which will take you most places you could want to go. If you are like many CCers, with 14 high school APs, then 2000+ is good.
for ivy leagues: 2300+ i would say
@collegenow111 SAT scores really make no difference from 2250-high 2300s, colleges look at it all the same. Only a 2400 stands out more than a score anywhere else within that range.
Thanks guys!
@vmiller7723 I understand what you’re saying, but I have a question:
Isn’t the difference between a 2390 and a 2400 a mere matter of 1 point or so? Why would colleges view a 2400 differently from a 2390 in that case?
No, there is really almost no difference between a 2390 and 2400. Taking it a step further, anything above the 2300 threshold is viewed pretty much the same way.
I say from 2250+ that’s where the rest of your app matters
General consensus is 2300+
2300+ for the top ivies like harvard, yale, princeton. 2200 is probably alright for schools like Cornell and other mid tiers.
Your SAT is going to be one of the last things that get you into an ivy.

Does anyone remember the Trapezoid and Rings Questions exactly? I’d like to figure out where I went wrong…
Can you still opt to pay for that service that lets you see which ones you missed, and if so, how?
any last curve predictions?
