For the 2 college passages, what was the answer to how they are related to eachother: i said something like author 2 promotes an idea that author 1 would find objectionable

@CalvinTBOD I put conjecture cause I thought he was really arguing for his side but I think it’s wrong.

@yankee I put that.

conjecture is guesswork. he wasnt guessing at anything

I think I was thinking conviction when I put conjecture lol! :(

Blergh, I just looked up the extended definition of conjecture. So is it repetition or analogical reasoning? I know the paragraph said “Teachers can” twice, and “teachers cannot” twice as well. But I’m not sure if that qualifies enough for repetition. This section is so subjective lol.

He repeated Teachers can/cannot the first part of the paragraph, and then repeated the word loses the second half.

“The sphinx is vastly overrated”, the sphinx is a perfect object to turn into something of your very own, grand, or in Nigel’s case, something negligible.

I put evocative, but honestly I don’t think any of the answer choices describe it well. It doesn’t really provoke emotions, and it isn’t very unsettling. It could be universal appeal, but that seems more of an inference since there is not mention of the sphinx being appealing to everyone. I’m stumped.

I put repetition. He person said lose a lot. And teachers a lot.

So did others put objectionable for the relationship between college passages

the only reason why i put unsettling was cause the passage talks about the different types of ways people depict the sphinx as… so unsettiling

is the telescope passage reflective but informative?

^same

so which is right???

I put universal appeal for the sphinx one. I thought this answer fit because everyone had different options about the sphinx. Ehh now it doesnt sound so right.

I believe universal appeal is correct bc the sphynxs depiction can be altered by anyone. Encephalitis the universal? Idk

*hence not ebcephatilis… stupid attocirrect

universal appeal is something that everyone aspects

@saidu put pensive and wavering(?) i thought he wasn’t informing anything

But then how exactly was it evocative? It caused differentiating opinions… not emotions

The common thing between Twain and that one painter was that their feelings toward the Sphynx were rare for their usual behavior… or something like that.
