Official June 2nd SATI Thread

Yes, prosaic was the answer to one of the questions.

However, I cannot trawl through 66 pages so please bear with me. I was iffy on the Sir Walter Raleigh with his independence with the queen. I said that it was intolerable FOR the queen. TO just sounded weird.

And the indigo question, its for MORE THAN 2000 years rather than OVER.

Congeniality…dang, I put natural beauty without looking at the other choices, but I knew there was something wrong since it talked about other people as well. --;;

Self-Conscious Inconsistency for giant squid?
Motivation for being Unforthcoming for the Chinese woman and her mother?

Axedav or to the person at the top of this page. The CR question I mentioned was about the giant squid regarding the statement or similar statement: “We are told to believe it is real but we still doubt”

The Carbs, the two answers that you are referring to…one could be crossed out because of a verb disagreement (it was singular when it shouldve been plural) I think.

d4r7h3v1l -> That f(x) + 1 was 3 for the grid in, but it was part of the experimental math section.

Oh, and doctor, it was change THEM, not change IT. It specifically stated something along the lines of “Even though most Americans/adults deplore the destruction of the rain forests and the imbalances caused to nature, they are still reluctant to change IT”

Thanks.

nmehta4: the passages of the CR today are listed somewhere around page 50? check around there.

Kai5925 + nmehta4: the PROSAIC question was on the paragraph with the kid making new friends, friends that were really peculiar/out of touch with the world. The question asked “what the narrator viewed his habits as” (his new friends viewed them as abnormal/interesting/etc.). The narrator viewed his habits as PROSAIC, since they were things like brushing his teeth…

avdaxes: Haha, if you had the time to read these 66 pages, you would find your answers.

 • Motorcycles was immediacy of the experience.
 • Hmm…carb question, I’m not sure of the exact details, but I think I chose the B) The two major types…are?
 • Self-conscious inconsistency = when the narrator of the 2nd squid passage talks about how “I know I’m supposed to believe the squid exists, but I can’t”
 • Breadth of knowledge may be the Nabokov quote question? If so, the answer to that was [overestimating the extent of their knowledge], the future generations that is.

Prosaic was in the close-knit question?

it was the question after that. or before…

gosmartie: I agree with you on the indigo question. Some people have been saying 5-6 no errors on writing, and indigo was usually one of the question that they named. So maybe 2-3 no errors is possible…

With the queen question, I think that was a no error, because “to” works.

Sorry for double post.

Mr Nice Guy: The IS is referring to the gel which is singular.

Hmm, I still dunno about the queen question echelon. I may very well be wrong but the reason I opted for the TO part was due to the fact that something is usually intolerable for someONE yet someone could be intolerable TO someTHING.

Who knows.

That is a good point, I’m not sure either way.

Thanks Echelon. But wasn’t there a choice such as routine which could make just as much sense?

“And the indigo question, its for MORE THAN 2000 years rather than OVER.”

Sorry, can someone explain? Over 2000 years sounds fine to me.

I don’t think so. I only remember “reprehensible” as one of the other choices.

I think with the indigo question, it described indigo: “Indigo had been the primary product…”, so I guess the tense makes it MORE THAN instead of OVER (which would be indigo has been). Just a thought - I put that as the error because it didnt sound right.

Gosmartie probably knows the real reason lol.

avdaxes, it has to do with the noun that the number describes. The general rule is if you can count it you use more than rather than over. Pretty sure this is correct.

Also, could someone please reiterate the question about the motorcyclist which included the answers congeniality and civic pride and natural beauty? I was so glad I didn’t find anything wrong until that one…I was stuck between congeniality and natural beauty and something deterred me from congeniality. Haha, deter was an answer about that Amazon rainforest question…

Echelon post something quick you devil child =P Post # lol

Does anyone remember the other word that went with the question with spate and revival as answer choice? (The Elizabethan question)

I think the congeniality question dealt with the part when the motorcyclist passed through the nice little town, where everyone stepped out onto the street to talk to him etc.

I remember the same feeling, except I went with congeniality because most of the lines highlighted dealt with people being kind (although the first part of the highlighted area talks about beautiful yards and gardens)

Chickla, the answer was spate and it had to do with Hollywood movies about the Elizabethan era. Revival cannot work because movies don’t really go through revivals nowadays lol

Bah…congeniality. I learned that term as sharing the same tastes or w/e not being kind >.<

oooh i put revival, but it seemed too simple for the last question.

Also blah city and blah city has musuems not has a museum right?

“have museums commemorating” blah.

Idk if this is the place, but will a minus 1 on the CR still give me an 800? That’s the only one I’ve found to be incorrect thus far. I heard that depending on the curve one can get up to or around 3 points off the raw score (meaning 2 wrong?) and still get an 800. Pretty sure I got an 800 on math (not that it matters, got 790 in Dec), and writing was fairly simple except for that intolerable one and the essay. I really need over a 2350 if I’m going to make up SAT IIs in October and still apply for EA.

Does everyone think its pretty much guaranteed a 2 question curve for both CR and W, maybe 1 question for M?

probably…and if by 2 question for writing, thats with an implied 12 essay…

-1 800 for math is doubtful, since it was so easy. Im thinking 780/790

At least I have some hope that I can get perfect in CR :P

BTW - 1000th POST.
