Official June 2nd SATI Thread

i got that one right murderah, but i just knew that when you cut the corner off, it left a triangle with three points instead of just one point. multiply that by 8 for every corner and youve got 24. thats how i did it. probably the wrong way to solve it, but i got the answer anyway.

there are still lines touching. when you cut a corner, it turns a one vertice corner into 3 vertices. so 8 vertices originally times 3 = 24 after you cut them. the cube isn’t hollow, although it would still be the same number of vertices in the case.

“but there are more lines touching”

explain. for some reason i cannot understand this crap and its ****ing me off

Godot (the last time I’ll single you out…pinky-swear!),

I agree with almost everything in your most recent post, but its final sentence comes across as a tad patronizing. Since we don’t have the testing materials in front of us, why do you automatically presume that my answer is “inferior and flawed”?

After all, neither of us is a slouch when it comes to standardized testing, so let’s declare a truce: I recognize the merits of your arguments, and it wouldn’t do you any intellectual harm to reciprocate the favor, irrespective of the ultimate outcome.

wait i dont think that it was close-knit…i think it was prosaic

oh omg! i see i am ■■■■■■■■…
i was thinking that once you cut off the corner the lines stop where you cut them… i wasnt thinking of it as a solid figure!! damn i could have easily gotten that one right!

whatever… whats 1 MC wrong and 2 gridins wrong?

ya this forum at times make me really scared about my scores but at times makes me really happy…i just want my score already

bschekel just stop

hobbie you are thinking of two different questions, they both are answeres to separate quesitosn

prosaic and close knit were different questions ihaveahobbie.

prosaic was about what they thought of his daily activities, and close knit was what the author thought of the people.

probably like 760

IHaveAHobbie - prosaic was a different question about his own daily routines… close-knit is supposedly the answer for a question about how he viewed the others

ihaveahobbie that was a different question, and both of those answers are correct for their question. =) (at least i think)
murderah, what do you mean the lines are not touching? even if the cube is hollow, a vertex is stilll where two lines meet

so when does the SAS come out?

what were some other answer choices to the prosaic question
i think i put that just want to make sure

oh ok, i remember prosaic but i don’t remember the close-knit question at all. Can anyone list the other answer choices?

bschenkel,

I’m sorry if I came off patronizing. That was not my intention. Yes, I do have my moments when I can be a little arrogant. (I like to think of it as confidence. ) Let’s just say that I am almost 100% confident of my answer, but I do understand why you might want to stick with your answer. I have certainly known to be wrong before (damn you, fallibility!). All right: truce. :)

Let me reiterate the point that, even when you are examining official administered SATs, not every single question (and its associated answer choices) is written perfectly (although I believe 99+% are). ETS has a tendency to ignore the small imperfections and flaws in the one or two flawed questions on each exam (e.g., the Improving Paragraphs question on which sentence to delete) as long as the question performs well statistically.

we are some devoted SATers its 1205 EST and were still going at it

Severed, my last post was intended to “stop” that fruitless debate, not prolong it.

Most of the questions have already been discussed here ad nauseam, and I resign myself to waiting until June 21st!

ya seriously we should all get 2400’s for our effort

Rofl take note that its 12:05 EST on sunday!!! lol

i think the close-knit question also had judgmental as a choice
