Official June 2nd SATI Thread

thats good, and they aren’t dumb, just that they dont give a rats ass about current events

haha don’t be too hard on yourself Eerie, i did that too. and i even thought about it when i answered. i was like “well nimble means quick… but it sounds like dim witted”

what do you guys think about how much harder or easier this test was than the psat? i mean the questions, not the fact that the psat has less sections and no essay.

I think they were similar enough, except that the SAt maybe had a few more “advanced” problems (like in math).

yeah i agree. anyway i have to go to bed now. ill talk to you guys later.

critical reading questions

what did you get for the questions asking the meaning of “exquisite”
i put “stylish”.

and, did you guys have answer"sullen" for different word-in-context question?

about critical reading

  1. ecyclopedia
-why did the writer put put examples he found on the book?
i narrowed down to “fascination of some topics” and “how the information were not true”

biographies
-what does line 2-7 show?
i put “life does not meet the standard of good fiction”

chinese mother
-why did the mother give the map of heart? ( i forgot how the questoin was worded) but the choices were " to show change in mother’s tone" “to prove the previous statement” or something like that

squid
-what does the line 39-40 (not sure) show?
it referred to the lines that said" recently, …) the choices were
“to show the physical strength of the creature” “to show that animals were misrepresented” something like that…

for the biographies, i put juxtaposition of the two for contrast

susies, I believe it was meticulous. It said something about exquisite detail.

yeah i concur for meticulous

what about juxtaposition?

what was the answer to the Squid one with possible answer choice “it is better to keep squid a mystery”

i didn’t pick that but i cant remember the question or my answer…hahah ambiguity

Murderah:

For the short paragraph in which the author discusses the “others” the answers in my opinion are:

  1. The others are CLOSE-KNIT
  2. He viewed his habits as PROSAIC (because in his opinion they were commonplace)
For the trip to the grocery store: The trip to the grocery store EPITOMIZED
    the everyday.

Aldeswari: I believe that the question was: What was the reason the author was an adult before she finally asked her mother “to talk about her life?” I believe that the best answer was: The mother’s attitude had successfully stifled the impulse to do so.

Wow…it sucks when this is your first SAT and you ave to wait so long for your scores… i am going to keep complaining until i get my scores.

haha me too. at least the wait is shorter than the psat and ap tests though.

what were some other choices for biography lines 2-7

yo what did you guys get for the answers to susies post on some of the CR? (above)

“2. biographies
-what does line 2-7 show?
i put “life does not meet the standard of good fiction””

i think…that’s what i put. Don’t remember completely, but that answer choice definitely jumps out as one that i considered.

i put that too- it didnt sound that great but i thought it made sense b/c he seemed dissatisfied.

for the squid question- i put an answer that had to do something with the “ubeeliveability of teh creature” or soemthing to that extent- thats the smae question right?

encyclopedia question- i put an answer that went something like “to show the variety of topics covered”

i dont remember the question that had to do with teh chinese mother
