Official June Sat Ii Physics Forum

how generous is the curve? i’ve looked at the book on SAT IIs from Collegeboard and Kaplan’s Physics book and both had EXTREMELY generous curves…like miss 10 and still get an 800. Is this really true?

Questions I was unsure on. (and still don’t know)…

1. Why was there a fractal question? And what was the answer to it?
A) air passages in lungs
B) cracks in mud
C) shape of an insect
D)…i don’t remember
E)…
2. It was question #3, I believe. What energy does an electron lose when it hits a television screen? (or something like that)
A) nuclear potential
B) electrical potential
C) kinetic
D) gravitational potential
E) elastic potential
(i think those are all right…)
3. Light goes through two polarizers. First one has an axis that is vertical. Second one has an axis that is horizontal. What direction is the light that goes through the second polarizer?
A) no light is transmitted
B) horizontal
C) vertical
D) 45 degree angle
E) …
4. A sheet of paper (correct me if i’m wrong) has a hole in it. When the temperature decreases the paper starts to shrink. What happens to the size of the hole?
A) stays same
B) decreases in size
C) increases in size
D) …only if the hole is in the center of the paper
E) …
5. Two balls are of the same density and different mass. When they are dropped from the same height, the ball with more mass falls faster. Why?
A) more weight
B) grav. force on that ball is greater
C) greater mass to surface area ratio
D) …
E) …

Thanks for any help anyone can give…

I don’t know much about physics, but i do know what a fractal is, and from the answers you supplied, air passages in the lungs makes the most sense.

branching broccoli is another option for that question…
