C: 2060
CR: 710
M: 720
W: 630 (10 essay)
My first sitting. Not too bad but I want to do better and superscore at least 2200. Writing is where I need to improve.

How did u guys prepare for this? Those who got 2200+
^ Yeah, I have the same question.
My score was very disappointing. I think I might be preparing the wrong way and too little.
Probably shouldn’t have taken it on the week of APs and used more than a week to prepare.
Only good thing is that I made an improvement by 100 points from the first time.
@skillz722 take every practice test you can find and time yourself, then grade yourself, then go back to questions you messed up and try again, then check your new answers and read explanations, drill vocab (buy the barrons book with the flashcards or make your own) and bring them everywhere, or you can make recordings and download to your ipod. Maybe thats a bit extreme but to each their own (: If you need writing improvement, look at a bunch of prompts and do a quick 3 minute outline for each one on what you would write about. You don’t have to actually write them but just to get an idea of how you should plan and organize. Read the grammar rules in a prep book also… That’s about it (: Night before do some light vocab review and personally I did 2 math sections and 1 reading section the early afternoon before as a confidence booster and to get in the mood but that’s optional… Good luck!
Guys is it worth retaking the SAT in October? I usually do way better on writing (scored 78 on PSAT). My scores were:
CR 800
M 760
W 730 (71, 10)
= 2290
And what do you think about math?
Guys I did really bad :((((
Is it held against you if you did really poorly on your first SAT but perform alright on the next one?
M 700
W 700
CR 690
://
Did anyone else think that the writing curve was harsh? I got a 670 with mc62 (or 63 i dont remember) and essay 10 but it’s so weird because I got an 800 on the February make-up test with mc80 and essay 10. I honestly don’t think I got that many writing questions wrong.
@tjgirl123 That’s not a bad score at all !! That’s pretty great for a start too
Just keep going !!
780 M
770 CR
760 W (9 essay)
Naturally I scored the lowest in writing, which I usually don’t miss any on.
At least my math is FINALLY up to par, even if it was at the expense of CR and W practice. Pretty happy with it, but I will likely retake it in October (June subject tests).
Congrats to everyone on their scores.
@tjgirl123 Colleges only see the scores that you send to them
@Argonian183 That’s true for most colleges, but the Ivies and other elite schools require that you send all of the scores (they will still superscore). It may not apply for subject test scores, though.
Jesus is everyone here going to an Ivy? I’m super happy with a 720 CR, 700 Math, and 670 Writing (11 essay)
but like if you send all of your scores and u have like a 2090 on the first one but a 2300 on the second one what happens?
I am so angry at myself that I studied so hard but got only 2010. Even though this is my first time taking the real test, at prep courses I never got an 8 on my essay and the teacher there graded really hard.
Hey everyone, if I got 2300 - CR 800, MR 780, WR 720 (first time) and am applying to Ivies, should I consider re-taking? I’m also international… but the international forum isn’t very active so I wanted to ask on here
I’m a junior right now, 2nd time taking it and got a 2270 - CR 740 M 800 WR 730 (10 essay). Is it worth retaking?
@Asutosh11 I’m also a junior who got a 2270. Yeah, I would say it’s definitely worth retaking! Just think - four extra months to study? —> 2400
@misschoding Same, my writing score dropped 90 points. I missed only one MC last time, but must have missed at least 7 on this one. Really bizarre…
@xxTiger You can retake it if you want. But it’s safe to say that even with the Ivies, you’re not going to be rejected because of a 2300 SAT score (or accepted for that matter). Once you earn a top score (2250+), it all comes down to extracurricular activities, awards, GPA, course rigor, recommendations, essays, etc.
A 2300 is above-average for literally every college in America, and I’d personally recommend that you focus on other aspects of your application. You could shoot for a 2400, but even that wouldn’t really make a difference to colleges.
@misschoding agreed, I did wayyy better in writing on my first SAT compared to this one. Got a near perfect score last time but this time was very meh. Debating whether to retake in October ugh
