Lol my score was so freaking lopsided-
620 CR 800 M 660 W
I was going for at least 2300, but guess I’ll be coming back in october…
I just don’t get one thing: For anyone that did really well in CR or Writing, how do you guys get better at it? Ive always been really bad at english but really good at math
Those of you who took the March and May SATs, how did your score this time compare to March?
700 CR
720 Writing (9 Essay)
800 Math
2220
Was aiming for 2300+, but looks like I’m going to have to spend another summer on this…
Scored a 2200
710 CR, 770 W with a 11 essay, 720 in math.
Math did not at all meet my expectations. Will have to retake it just for the math. Lol…another month wasted
@Amacord are you sure of your writing score ? Cause that same writing grade got me a lower score !!
@getting depressed Yup, I am sure. That’s what it says on my college board scores:
Critical Reading 740
Math 800
Writing 760
Multiple Choice 75
Essay 9
@Amacord Could it be that the score range differs between countries then ? I got the same writing raw score as yours yet I got lower.
Anyway , Congrats! That’s a really great score ! First trial ?
If I got a 730 on writing with 78 MC and a 7 essay, what would I have gotten with a 9-10 essay, assuming same MC correct?
New here, but looking for advice. I scored a 2330:
800 CR
740 M
790 W
75 MC (4 wrong)
11 Essay on “unconditional loyalty”; used House of Cards and Malcolm Gladwell
I know this isn’t the struggle by any means, but it misrepresents me as a student. I’m actually much better at Math than English, and want to convey that to the colleges. So…should I take it again? I know I can get an 800 in Math, but would 740-800 be a meaningful increase worth the stress/extra work? Or would doing well on Math II in June be enough proof of my Math ability?
and @Homsar : I was in your situation before, used to get high 600s/low 700s in CR. For me, vocab was never really the issue, so I can’t address that. But for me, my problem was not truly reading the passage. I’d just skim through it and choose the answer that sounded best. Don’t do that; instead, look at the first 4 questions or so then head into the passage trying to discern every word. Don’t move on until you 100% know what’s going on. Also, this isn’t English class: you’re not trying to interpret things at multiple angles, but rather acting more as a translator. That’s because all of the correct answers are merely ‘translations’ of things directly in the text. So yeah, just my 2 cents.
@Yakisoba 780 - 790.
@willay Retake the SAT if you are confident that you can do better. Although your score is good enough to get you considered at every elite university, you should still take it if you feel that you can improve it. I too am retaking because I scored a dismal 720 in math. I usually suck at english and do wonders in math. So 720 is a surprise for me. I’m retaking it November and hopefully, I can get closer to 2350.
Your current score is also enough. So don’t prioritize the SAT and if that time can be well spent doing other things, don’t think twice before ditching the next attempt.
@willay @scimathguy Remember that 3 incorrect answers on math can drop you down to a low 700, whereas 3 wrong on critical reading is still a high 700.
You will not get rejected from anywhere because of a 740 on the math portion. Get an 800 on the math level 2 subject test instead.
yeah it was my first time @GettingDepressed Thanks!
@Kat2016 yeah, my march and may scores are similar. my may score is 10 points lower than marchs but its only because my writing dropped so much.
I honestly hate the SAT math portion so much… Im one of the top students in my precalc honors class at a competitive public high school and I actually studied my butt off for the SAT but my highest is only a 720… And its weird because I managed to get a 77 on the math PSAT section with little prep and even 800s on 2~3 practice tests. Oh the irony…
I’m still mad salty about how I missed literally ONE writing question, and I still managed to throw my W score down the toilet by getting a 7 on the essay. I could have gotten a perfect SAT section by my sophomore year UHhhhHHh
@tjgirl123 please be a little bit sensitive, because there are others who did much worse than you.
Scores from May:
2370 Composite
Math: 800
Critical Reading: 790
Writing: 780
Essay: 10
Not sure if I should take it again in the Fall. Somewhat haphazard – I am slightly disappointed. What do you guys suggest?
Anyone know how to get better at writing? Do they really just test you over 18 grammar rules?
has anyone ever completely bombed a section before. like i was positive i got atleast 740+ on math section, but i got 650. i dont even see how its possible, i’m so good at math, i dont know what i did wrong, unless i made a ton of little mistakes, there were only 2 questions that i wasnt sure on.
Hey guys so I wouldn’t normally consider retaking because I’m happy with my scores and superscore, but should I retake to consolidate my sub sections?
March: 590 CR, 670 M, 730 W
May: 630 CR, 610 M, 790 W
I think a 2090 is a pretty decent superscore (all colleges on my list superscore). But what’s worrying me is that my scores, besides writing, are very low.
I’m taking the ACT in June, and I should have pretty good subject tests, but would you guys recommend a retake?
@Vandy12020 No need to worry you have a great score. BTW what book did you use for your math prep?
