I got the music one as 51, & I know for sure. I used the formula chrisiskey was talking about first, but I finished that section about 10 minutes early, so I went back to the music problem & out of pure boredom, just counted it out.
Yes, I know what you are thinking-I WAS bored out of my mind.

This is the version I took:

1) Essay: “Currently not discussing essay topics as I am not allowed?” — All i can say is that it has something to do with making decisions? (Was really easy)
2) CR: “The one about the notebook”, how this writer remembers something from her diary about a waitress and someone called Estelle?
3) CR: “The one with the paired passages about the paintings”
4) Math: All MC
5) Writing: About the red pepper vs. the black pepper and Colombus? Yes, I am sure about this one.
6) CR: Jefferson and his speech that fascinated people.
7) Math: Was quite easy. Had grid-ins.
8) CR: Cheetah
9) Math: V. easy.
10)Writing: V. easy

Question for Chrisiskey on section 2: You see, unless they mix up all sections on all tests, I don’t remember this notebook/diary part everyone is talking about. I got all of the other CR/Writing sections as you… Maybe not the essay, but it is possible. So is the diary/notebook part everyone is talking about the story about the two poets?

Did anyone here have the Dennis essay or the essay about how water infiltrates boulders and rocks to create soil? those were in 2 DIFFERENT sections for me and it seems that no one has either of them… I am starting to worry… How is it possible for me to have 2 different sections from everyone else?

i had dennis and rock but they were in the SAME section…you probably just remember incorrectly. i had 5 sentences, 2 of the short paragraph stories with 2?s each, and then dennis and finally rock.

I wouldn’t say it was exclusively about poets, but in the passage the narrator does imply that poets have a tendency to be unhappy. I think that was a question, too. She says something about them being lonely and victims of unfortunate childhoods.

Yep. I put that too for that chinese girl passage.

For the small double passages about scientific mysticism, did you say that unlike passage 2, passage 1 doesn’t make use of an anectode?

silvermoon~ yes!

The only question I guessed on I got right, so I’m pretty happy. It was the question about the man who gave his earnings to charity. It came down to insurgent (I couldn’t remember the meaning) and ascetic, and I chose ascetic.
But I think I forgot to bubble in the answer to the question about Shubert’s music. The answer was ubiquitous, and I remembered the meaning, but I still have this gut feeling I didn’t bubble it in.

I’m estimating:

800 M
780 V
790 W

oh most def anecdote.

im feeling mixed over this test

i want scores so i can move on

would like a 2000-2050 be acceptable at JHU–anyone know? that’s what im guessing

My brother is at JHU … he got in with a 1380 SAT(old)…

I really want my scores too and the Question & Answer service with the answers/booklet that I ordered.

For the Jefferson passage, what was the ‘rarefied region’? I know this question was asked before but no one gave a clear answer.

It definitely was anecdote. The first passage uses generalizations, whereas the second uses a personal example from the neurologist who has that spiritual occurrence in London. Personal example or story = anecdote.

i forget–what were the choices for rareified region??

and are you sure it was Q&A?? i thought it was just A…if it is Q and A is it too late to order?

It was Q & A because it’s the $24 service not the $10 one. Then I’ll be able to settle some of these highly disputed questions once and for all.

I ordered the Question & Answer service too, so I’m really interested in getting that back to see my mistakes. If it’s not got an explanation for the answer though, I’m going to be steaming.

The answer that I put down for the ‘rarefied region’ was like “Jefferson’s thoughts of an idealistic world do not reflect today’s realities” or something.

wait, for the vocab question, what were the other choices besides like pundit, insurgent, and ascetic? And silvermoon, the correct answer to the rarified region one was that it emphasized the uniquness of how people recognize Jeffersons thoughts.

No clue… but it was the sentence about the guy who lived his life simply and donated to charities, right?

yeah ascetic was the charities and i put the same thing for rareified…it was between that and another one but i went with that.

also anyone know if Q and A is too late to order?
