Okay, some programs in Engineering are 5 years for non-Quebecers. That is one of the few exceptions! The terms freshman, sophomore, junior, senior are not used in Canada. It is U0, U1, U2, U3 and in some Engineering U4.

4.32 Gpa
2170 SAT

^ yay! awesome guys

rgnburd - do you know if you’re going?

May I know when you guys applied? I am guessing Mcgill has a ‘first come, first told’ way of doing applications lol

I’ve heard from all US universities already but Mcgill has me biting my nails >.<
It is, ironically, my top choice >.>

It might be random though, who knows =p

I applied in late October, they received my midyear scores Jan 12th. Hope that helps. =/

Yeah I applied in October too, and was accepted last week

i applied in mid-december
and i got accepted 3 weeks ago

do I have to report official SAT scores to get accepted?

^ not if you submit ACTs

but you may want to submit as much as possible, it might help you qualify for scholarships. My ACT was a little better than my SAT, but my subject tests were pretty good. I just submitted everything I had & I believe it helped me win a scholarship. Also, if you have AP, IB, IB predicted, whatever submit those too.

I’m pretty sure they superscore too. Hope that helps. =]

so how does this work??

Admitted Pending Final Results

son must accept or decline by may 1 but his final results wont be in by that date, school not finished for about another 2 weeks after that.

All that means is that McGill reserves the right to take away an offer if your son does not finish school as expected. So, if someone were to fail classes at the end of high school for example. American universities have the same thing; they can rescind an application after your final high school results come in.

Basically your son just has to relatively maintain his academic standing.

ah, thats not a problem, i thought it was the B issue for science program (his school doesnt give + or - so his transcript shows some b’s in science classes). and saw that there is a “admitted” that most here seem to be getting… so thought there must be a problem of some kind.

Don’t colleges calculate UW GPA by dropping the +'s and -'s anyway?

falcon i’m not sure, but for chemistry program it said all grades must be B+ … overall he has a wgpa of 4.13 and an act of 33, with 3 satII that were 730 or above. his unweighted was 3.8 something. his transcript doesnt show a grade, a B is anything between 80-89.

Well he was admitted so assume that’s not a problem. As tkdkid stated “Pending Final Results” just means they want to see 2nd semester grades to ensure that your son continues to succeed. I imagine most people who are accepted have that status.

they already have his 2nd semester grades, initially it was pending and needed 2nd semester grades (school on trimesters) once they got those it changed to above status

Okay, then they’re probably waiting for 3rd semester grades if you’re on trimesters. They want to see continuing strong grades through the finish of high school. It’s the same as with the vast majority of universities.
