****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

So the results go out by email?

yup

followed by a letter in the mail afterwards

is there any chance well find out tomorrow?

Does anyone know if being a CPS student have any effect on the admission’s process?

@2016applicantED what is a CPS student?
And what do you guys think the acceptance rate will be for this year? I know the article posted before said that the rate would be similar to last year’s, but surely they can’t take 36% of applicants this year since that would take up over half the incoming class size.

this is when acceptances have been sent out for the past four years:

2014: 12/15 6:30pm EST
2013: 12/12 5:00pm EST
2012: 12/13 5:00pm EST
2011: 12/09 6:00pm EST

@plsnu1234 a CPS student is a Chicago Public School student. I was wondering if being part of Chicago’s public education system during admissions

@mzr1998 wow congrats!!! you’re so lucky

just to add onto @letmein321 's post…

I guess these dates are our options! I’ve been reading through too many threads… The things you do at 2 am when you’ve got finals coming up! Anyways, good luck to everybody!

I think we should all calm the **** down and stop being so paranoid lol - we’ll get the decision when we get it - and not to be the bad guy but we should all prepare for the worst while hoping for the best

You guys coming up with rumors on release dates is freaking me out. This is a place of comfort people.

If you’re applying to a program where subject tests are optional, do you think they have any chance of making or breaking the application? Additionally, are AP exams or subject tests held in higher regard?

@mcc1998 No, if the subject tests are optional, that means it has no effect on your application/your chances of getting admitted. Although it wouldn’t hurt to add them if you think your scores are good enough!
And I would think subject tests are held in higher regard than AP exams, because AP exams are only really used for getting college credit, whereas subject tests are for showing off your talent in certain subjects.

@lmaoimdeadaf The speculating is driving me nuts, too, but I can’t stop…

anyone else pretty confident they’re going to get in? or am I just a cocky a**hole?

@acx820 I would love to get in… but no I’m not very confident… LOL doesn’t make you an a-hole its just your confidence level. I would be VERY surprised if I got in. (At the same time I don’t want to beat myself down too much and make my fears come true)

Do you guys know how Northwestern will contact us regarding whether we got in or not?

@jinny11419 same, I got a 3.65uw GPA (23%tile in my class) and a 1980 superscored SAT. The only thing I have going for me is my essays. But a man can hope right?

@jinny11419 @jason922
Glad that I’m not the only one counting on a rejection lol… 3.7 GPA, Top 10.4%, trash SAT subject tests, and honestly mediocre/bland recommendation letters. The only thing that’ll miraculously get me in is my 2230 SAT ( which isn’t even that good in comparison to most NU admits ) and maybe my essays. Everything else is going against me, haha.

…If I do get accepted I don’t know how I’ll react… It’ll be so surreal lol…

Honestly, when I hear about the results and it’s a rejection, I probably wouldn’t be very sad or depressed since I’ve been bracing for it so much. I’m actually still working on my RD apps so that I’ll be ready if NU doesn’t work out.
TBH, the worst part about getting rejected ED is forcing yourself to pay the RD application fees, finishing them, AND having to wait even more months to know where you’re going to college lol…
