Guys, any good way to gauge how good your recommendations are? I have them but don’t have much to compare them with so I don’t know how good they were…
Haha, anyone follow college football? I’ve never really payed attention to Northwestern because they sucked so much in the past; but DAMN, dude, idk wth Coach Fitz is doing but he and the team are absolutely KILLING it this season. Maybe it’s that Thorson kid everyone always talks about… 13th Seed? 10 wins? Although that Michigan loss must have been embarrassing haha…
I low key never thought I would ever see Northwestern do better than my Baylor Bears lol
@RamenUniversity any idea how NU will release their admission decisions?
@spartan2016
Almost positive it’s through an email they send you at around 5-6 PM ET.
@spartan2016 and @RamenUniversity, if you go back to page 14 of this thread @leoursa posted a very helpful comment detailing the date, time, and day of the week that admissions decisions were sent out the last five years or so.
Can an impeccable first quarter make up for some scattered B’s in the past?
@RamenUniversity Theres no way you should be bracing a rejection man. You have as good a shot as anyone here, barring any unusual circumstance. Maybe college confidential is just making us all nervous with all these 4.0, 2300+ kids here.
People, before you ask questions try reading through some of the other pages of this thread! Yeah it’s annoying but we’ve been getting the same question 6-7 times and its literally mentioned on every other page.
We gotta get this thread active by the time the decisions come out haha I need to find some comfort amongst those feeling the same nervousness I am!
@RamenUniversity @jason922 LOL wow both your stats are so much better than mine… I know I need to be realistic and start getting my RDs ready… I have said this millions of times though…BEST BEST BEST case scenario is just getting in ED and only have the deposit to worry about for the rest of the year.
@RamenUniversity same I’m going to hopefully have all of my RDs ready by then so when I get rejected I just start sending in other RD applications as soon as I get rejected HAHAHA. GOOD LUCK y’all I’m so glad I have people with similar (but honestly better) stats to be anxious with together.
@RamenUniversity Let’s not talk about football- sincerely, an upset Iowan.
Y’all I’m so stressed. Does anyone know the likeliness of deferral versus flat-out rejection? As in, if we’re not accepted ED, is it more likely that NU will defer us, or do they only do that if they need to see better academic performance as the year goes on?
It’s so scary that our fates have been decided and are probably just sitting in a stack on someone’s desk
@oligrayeug1 I found this article from 2009: http://www.northbynorthwestern.com/story/northwestern-admissions-alters-early-decision-poli/ and this one from 2013: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kat-cohen/the-truth-about-getting-d_b_2395749.html
Prob won’t make you feel better:
“A main difference between Northwestern and the other schools is the rate of deferral. Whereas Northwestern only deferred about 3.5 percent of its early applicants, Yale deferred 47 percent and only outright denied 38 percent last year. Other schools choose to see how early applicants actually compare to the rest of the regular decision pool, while Northwestern chooses to wait for more information on a student before giving a definitive answer.”
“Northwestern University only started deferring applicants a few years ago, and only does so for 1-2 percentof the applicants”
So I’d say no, it’s likely NU will either accept or deny you, very few are deferred.
@mcc1998 I had more than a few scattered Bs. Even Cs. But all As in every English and Social studies classes. They really look at your strengths.
who’s down for a college confidential thread party when we are all at Northwestern next year?
Ayyyy. This kid
It’s so hard to let yourself get excited about a school that you know has such low acceptance rates…I liken it to going to Disneyland but you have no ticket
@meekuchu Universal Studios > Disneyland
Hey sorry new here. When are results going to be posted?
