@artandscience123 actually last year was the first year they did that. for the 5 years before last year (2009-2014), they released decisions before the 15th.
@letmein321 ya ya im just assuming that w/ the significant increase of applicants the 15th sounds more plausible. also people on this thread said they called and admissions keeps saying 15th? idk one can only hope it happens sooner! esp cause the ivies all came out today
@artandscience123 lots of ivies coming out tomorrow! Only 3 possible days left, you’ll make it, don’t think too much!
@headintheclauds and to everyone else, just have fun this weekend, hang out with friends, and try not to stress, that’s what I’m doing!! Although my school is on trimesters so I don’t have to worry about finals, which makes things quite a bit easier :)) sending all of my fellow ed hopefuls good vibes and good luck rn
There are 14 or 15 applying early from my school to NU so I’m very worried… The sooner we all find out, the better.
^^^ the actual article that confirms many of our deepest fears if you want to see for yourself
It seems as though the increase in applications will mainly affect RD applicants:
“With the increase in the number of applications, Mills said he is still expecting similar acceptance rates for Early Decision candidates as last year. He said he thinks the school will take about 45 to 50 percent of its freshman class from the Early Decision pool.”
Yo Mills if you’re reading this, stop being lazy and send me my acceptance letter
Applied ED to Weinberg. Were we supposed to get a confirmation email that links us to a NU student account? I got a receipt email from NU and an email that told me to check my email for NU updates on my app. Is my assumption right that no they don’t give us an NU account and we just check our emails for any admissions related updates?
I also applied ED to Weinberg and haven’t received any access to a NU account. My counsellor told me that they notify by email.
Just curious, does NU track demonstrated interest or is it basically used as a tiebreaker between two applicants?
@driedmangoes NU gives demonstrated interest a lot more importance than other elite schools do - you never know, maybe
Good luck to all of you!
Was hoping my DD would ED NU because I love this school - and it’s in the Big Ten!!! But, her college is her choice so she chose another school and got accepted into it ED yesterday afternoon. I don’t think there was a big annoucement about it. The kids on her school’s ED thread kept checking and the decisions came out around 3pm CST I think.
The wait is almost over for most of you, and I am really hoping for the best for all of you.
FWIW: Fall quarter final grades at NU have to be released by Dec 14th and then our student/ incoming student website goes down for several hours.
@CaliCash Does that mean we might have to wait even longer?
any chance decisions come out today?
@wildcat2489 Close to 0 chance. We’ll get them only on the 15th
How can you be so sure?
@CaliCash does this mean that our result will come on the 11th or the 15th?
Thanks in advance
@driedmangoes @McKilla99 NU Admissions does cite “demonstrated interest” as a criteria which can be a campus visit, meeting with an admissions officer at your HS or a school event in your area. It registers but its very low down on the criteria considered for admission.
