****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

Guys, about the ED agreement showing up as “submitted”, let me calm your nerves. (And trust me, this isn’t fake - it’s the actual reply that Northwestern gave me) -

Me;

My name is XXXXXXXXXX, and I’ve already submitted my early decision application to Northwestern. While everything on the common application - the counselor forms and the recommendations - shows as “downloaded”, the parent ED agreement still shows up as “submitted”. Should I be concerned?

Thanks,
XXXXXXXXXX

Reply from Northwestern;

Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admission. We can confirm we’ve received the completed Early Decision Agreement form. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

@oboesapien hey when did u audition on the 20th? I auditioned on the 20th as well!

@froyo2020 I feel the same way! We’re all bonding through mutual terror and crippling anxiety, and we’re all being super awesome and supportive. You all seem exactly like the type I’d love to have as my peers in college.

You are a lot braver than I for emailing them. :stuck_out_tongue:

@McKilla99 thanks for doing that and silencing the whole “ED agreement” thing, FINALLY. PEOPLE- NO ONE HAS A DOWNLOADED PARENT ED AGREEMENT.

what about the time? will it be estimated to be 5pm CST on the 15th?

@McKilla99 Thank you so much for asking. Also, I didn’t submit my parent ed agreement until yesterday night. I just checked a couple minutes ago and it says my ed agreement from the counselor section is downloaded now too. At least my hope of admission jumped from 0% to 0.5% :).

@netflicks Some people are saying 5-6 CST, some are saying 2-3. There’s really no way to know. Someone posted the dates and times decisions have been released for the past six years on page 14 of this discussion, and the time varies wildly (I think one year it was 8am, the next it was 6:30 pm). So don’t listen to anyone on here who’s writing with conviction that IT WILL BE FIVE PM- we don’t know what we’re talking about.

@netflicks Yeah, 11pm GMT - which is 5pm CST

Any of you guys applied to UMich?

Status: Rumored date (Thanks to Simon, Zhuo, and Johhny for informing us!)

Can some of you guys share with us your extracurriculars/how long you’ve been involved? I want to see the type of activities that you guys are doing:)

Living in Asia, I’m one whole day ahead so I’m hoping the email doesn’t come in at an unconventional time lol

Why does countdown madness show 1pm est as the release date?? Do they know something we don’t?

Can someone check the class of 2019’s thread and see when they got their decisions?

I’m pretty sure 2019 got it at 6:30 est time. I’ll post my extracurriculars later, but I don’t think I’ll be getting accepted tomorrow :frowning:

@toothpasteonface well I’m in chamber choir and have been for a few years and I’m a varsity wrestler and have been throughout high school.

I’ve also volunteered at a local library to help teenagers who don’t speak English practice basic fluency skills.

Unfortunately I’m not in very many clubs because I’m not the type of person to join a club for the sake of looking good for college

@toothpasteonface I’ve mentored underclass-men in robotics, am a student member of the Round Square organization, volunteered for about 400 hours, co-founded and am the VP of my school’s press club, am a media associate of a entrepreneurial organization that I’m not going to name, and a bunch of other stuff. I think for my curriculum (CBSE), which allows very little time for ECs, it’s a good amount.

@toothpasteonface On my part I’ve participated as a member/co-founder/co-president of several small, student-run clubs and what I guess is a Student Council equivalent, been elected class rep through high school because no one else bothered, volunteered in a couple of exchange programs for overseas students and won several academic awards (all in English, which I don’t think would be significant considering my major). It may seem like a lot but when I list everything down, it really lacked diversity and a unique touch to it. Considering how my curriculum work, though, there’s nothing much to complain about and I just really hope the admission board thinks the same.

@toothpasteonface I’ve played flute for one of the best youth orchestra in my area for the past two years, and I’m also the principal flutist at the best band in my area. I did two music summer camps that are really hard to get in, performed in a lot of masterclasses in my area, and got 2nd place in a wind competition back in my home country. I also have a diploma in piano from a conservatory in London. I played for two school musicals and have been in the school orchestra all four years. Besides music, I’ve interned at a stock exchange as a translator and also translated for masterclasses at a woodwind festival back in my country. Also, varsity sport athlete all four years. Not many clubs though.
