****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

@flutyfluty That kind of depth is way way better than spreading yourself thin over several things. I’d say you’re a shoe in as long your scores and stuff are decent-ish.

@toothpasteonface I go to a pretty small college preparatory school, heres my current extracurriculars-
NHS, NAHS (officer junior year), NEHS (founding member, officer), Newspaper (co-editor), Acapella (founding member, tenor section leader) theater (lead roles 3 yrs), student tutor, choir president, assistant counsellor at a theater/improv camp for kids. Not a whole lot of athletics, although I was a varsity archer for a year or two.

Don’t want anyone to tell me how these line up/chance me, I just want to find out more about what all of you like to do, and tell you what I like!

That clear theater/choir focus is a big sticking point for me, but I’m applying to engineering schools. Ideally I’d have time for a minor in theater!

Wow amazing ec’s amazing people:D @flutyfluty I play the flute as well! I do annual performances for that and the piano, one of which included an audience of thousands. I’m in student council as well and founded a humanitarian project that’s building baby homes and an orphanage. I also do debate and won national champion one year. I run my own business and developed my own product through that business. Should’ve done more sports, I always wished I picked up some sport and kept going with it:/

@toothpasteonface oh no! I forgot to include how long I’ve been in those things! Oh well- I also skipped a bunch of volunteer and church stuff…

@IJustNeedToKnow Yeah same, I’m just curious about what others’ interests are:) Varsity archer sounds pretty awesome!

Are any schools releasing ED decisions today?

LD Debate Captain, Started and am co-president of an unofficial “non-profit” based upon providing the elderly who are usually lonely in nursing homes with flowers and cards for the holidays through a distribution system, head activities director for my church of 60+ members, president and founding member of philosophical inquiry club.

Not as impressive as yall but eh haha

thanks guys for sharing all your eps, it’s great to see what others are doing outside of school :wink: I’d say I have decent SAT 1 and 2 but I’m worried about my gpa even though it is above the average accepted gpa (ED) for Northwestern from my school according to naviance… it’s just the competition is getting so fierce and as an international student these stuff are really arbitrary…

Do any of ya’ll keep reading your app again and again out of sheer anxiety?

Guys, i saw that the reaults come atleast an hour earlier on the portal than the email.
When someone checks their result on the portal can they please post it here?
Im guessing result will come between 11 and 5 am IST

@CmBsTAg are you from India?

@McKilla99 I applied to UMich!!

@McKilla99 @annacblakley Me too!

HOSA (Heath Occupations) Club member for 3 years, volunteer at local Medical Center and at local nursing home. Academic honor societies like NHS, MAO, RK, SNHS. Compete for most academic clubs as well as for HOSA (2nd year competing). Environmental club that recycles and cleans school, member for awhile now. Played local tennis for awhile too. I definitely focused most of my time discovering my interest in health science and learning from different POVs in the field of western medicine. My common app essay talked about this need that I have. I’m also a student government treasurer which is hectic considering senior year sales include hoco, grad bash, and prom (lord help me). I really spread myself way too thin considering I take 6 APs at a time for the last two years. I live in florida so I applied to the generic schools. Accepted to UCF, FSU, FIU so far and waiting for UF in february but NU is my #1 :slight_smile:

“December 15

Nonononono never. I closed that Common App window and never looked back (except for the fake account I made for answering other people’s questions).

Anyone here watched DBSuper? And if so, the newest episode sucked didn’t it? :’)
