****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

Hello, I was accepted yesterday. Is it true that financial aid appears in CAESAR one day after login and will financial aid also be sent in the mail? Thank you

Honestly, @neededucation I have no idea. But I’m not sure it is valid to come to a conclusion about test scores based on the very small and statistically biased sample of those replying on College Confidential. When NU releases the test scores of the incoming class of 2020 I bet they are rather high. I visited NU and had an alumni interview. I’m not a URM or from a small underrepresented state and not a legacy. I do believe that there is a randomness (or in stats terms a large statistical deviation) to this process. Unfortunately because of the ratio of applicants to acceptances, the process is inherently unfair. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Almost nobody bats 1,000 in this process. You read all the time about people getting to Harvard who got dinged at Northwestern or Yale.

@eskalidig. I read on the financial aid website, that financial aid packages would begin appearing on March 28.

@yalebound2020 I read on a Stanford page that 69% of 2400 kids are rejected. But given either my number or yours, it’s undeniable that Standord is of a different tier than Northwestern and therefore does accept high scorers at a higher rate.
@Hoorent Thank you for the information. It seems like a pretty random system.
Congrats to you both on your acceptances btw!

Ugh, still really bummed out about this. But oh well, I’m really happy to see so many well-qualified people getting accepted. Rock it at NU!

@neededucation - Stanford attracts the cream of the crop so the % of rejections doesn’t necessarily mean much. They use the statistic to their advantage. I am pretty sure that they can twist it around and say that 70% of those accepted have 2400?

@jacobpilawa - how we doin’ buddy? Feeling better today?

@yalebound2020 Well the worst thing about this entire week is that it started with me being really sick :frowning: There’s a stomach virus going around my school so I’ve been home sick 3 days this week, so I’m missing a ton of work on top of the rejections. I’m just happy for friends that got into Northwestern and U Chicago. :^)

@jacobpilawa - Atta boy! Above everything, keep up the faith!

@neededucation - I have a 2310 SAT and I got in.

Accepted to Northwestern and the Medill School of Journalism! :slight_smile:
Truly did not believe I had a chance of being admitted, especially compared to some of the stellar GPAs and test scores I’ve seen on this thread. Just serves as a reminder to never lose faith. Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard back yet!

@Anonymoose3 - Yeah, but you knew about the curse of the 2400s and you lost some points on purpose :wink:

@Yalebound2020 Exactly :stuck_out_tongue:

Those points were, errrm, on purpose coughs.

@Anonymoose3 - Don’t be modest now… have a great weekend. Enjoy the ride, I know I am (just got into ND)!

Congrats, @yalebound2020! :slight_smile:

Have a good weekend!

hi guys, do any of you know the contents of the Northwestern admit packet that is mailed over? does it have a t-shirt or anything?

Financial aid packages should be available by March 25, per https://admit.northwestern.edu/whats-next/index.html.

thanks :wink:

Glad to be accepted to the Weinberg College! Majoring in Neuroscience!

any idea what the rd acceptance rate was?
