****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

State: Florida
School: Weinberg
Major: Biology and hopefully minor in Global Health

Is applying to less popular majors at all advantageous?

@londondad From India, but currently residing in Dubai, UAE

@mcc1998 Nope - maybe to less illustrious unis but I don’t think choice of major affects selectivity at northwestern. Correct me if I’m wrong.

State: the frozen tundra that is Iowa
School: McCormick
Major: biomedical engineering

State: Illinois
School: Medill
Major: Journalism

Eagerly counting down the minutes until my dreams are crushed.

What other places have you applied to?

State: International
School: McCormick
Major: BME

So I guess results aren’t coming out today?

@McKilla99 But it does matters which College you apply to right? (Like Medill vs McCormick)

@Suspects No

@CaliCash For ED, interest is key to admission yeah? Because I think interest in the uni weighs much more at Northwestern than at other unis.

@Suspects @CaliCash yes it matters which school you apply to. Acceptance rate is lower for McCormick than Weinberg for example

@acx820 It does not. -A Northwestern Student

Does anyone know the ED acceptance rate for Medill?

@smb63097 Dude, selectivity doesn’t depend upon major, so ED acceptance rate for Medill is ED acceptance rate for Northwestern - which was around 36% for the class of 2019.

Hey, so I applied ED, and a few other students from my grade (about 3 or 4) applied ED to NU as well. Do you know if NU only accepts a certain amount of students from one high school? We all have a good chance of getting into NU, but I’m worried that NU wont accept 4 students from one high school.

@wonderlust20 you might think that kids from the same school would affect each other’s chances, but it really doesn’t. A below average private school in my area got 8/8 into Stanford a few years ago which would never happen if it affected chance of admission. Btw, 6 ppl from my school applied early to NU

Did anyone else get one of those annoying spam college emails from admissions@neu.org (northeastern) and freak out for a second that it was NU?

Just spent roughly an hour and a half reading all 1,200 posts of the NU class of 2019 page from last year…SOS

@meekuhchu no better way to spend a Saturday

Accepted to Northwestern University through QuestBridge on a full, four year scholarship! Weinberg Class of 2020!
