@Cowenite depends on what you consider “very good grades” but if you have at least a 3.8 unweighted then it’s definitely possible if you apply ED. If you apply RD, you probably won’t get in
Incoming NU2020 student here. Could I get some recommendations for dorms? Thanks to the Living section on the NU website and North by Northwestern, I do have a few dorms in mind that I’m interested in, but I want to make sure I’m not overlooking others.
I’ll be an econ major, so I’m wondering if I should live on the southern part of campus. Though I’m not opposed to living on the North (I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life, so I’m quite familiar with the winter weather and won’t be too over dramatic about walking ten minutes in the winter), it would be nice to save a little time when getting to classes, and be near downtown Evanston. I don’t really party that much (or at all), but I’m not really bothered by loud noises or parties, so dorms known for parties aren’t completely out of the question. I would like it if the building I live in is near a gym, or has a gym inside it (I know Hobart has a gym in it, I don’t know if any other dorms do, too). Thanks for any help!
@ThatPeprika There are three gyms on campus. Two north campus, one in the middle of campus. For freshmen next year, I recommend Shepard. It’s new and it’s gonna be for freshmen.
Just got accepted to BRIDGE (a special summer program for freshmen)! Really excited.
Congrats! Me too, got the email this morning! Did you sign up for Econ or Chem? So excited for this summer!
@CaliCash Thanks for the suggestion! I actually have a question. I guess I don’t really understand residential communities. The website says that Shepard will be a part of a new Residential Community along with 1838 Chicago. Is NU combining Shepard and 1838 Chicago together? Or are they gonna still be two separate buildings but they are still one community? How does that work?
Cool, @ThatPeprika! I signed up for Econ. WBU?
@DominicBayer Econ too! Cool, I guess we’ll be seeing each other this summer!
@ThatPeprika. That’s really cool! I hope we get to know each other well this summer.
@ThatPeprika They will be separate buildings that form one community as far as I know. Don’t worry about the difference between halls and communities.
Is it bad to just submit one academic letter of rec?
Submit two
I am international!@muynoches
D17 did RD and her e-mail says by early April!
And just to reply to up-posts about receiving confirmation, my daughter received no acknowledgment till the application was sent. In her case transcripts and test scores had been sent in October. There doesn’t seem to be a portal or anything- prospective students seem to get application status and de idiom by email. She applied RD this week.
Whoops for some reason I went through a wormhole and ended up on the class of 2020 thread! How did that happen? LOL.
Good news for those on the waitlist – I initially accepted my spot on the waitlist but have decided to remove my name following my recent acceptance from Georgetown. Good luck everyone, and congrats to all accepted! NU is a great school
