From an email with the admissions office: “During the application process we do take into consideration whether a student has a sibling, parent, or grandparent that graduated from Northwestern. However, it is important to note that no admission decision will ever be made solely based on legacy status. In other words, this is just one additional positive piece of information that we look at, but will not be the deciding factor.”
@Zpower99 I’m applying to case western too! Although I’m praying I’ll get admitted to Emory if I get rejected by nu lol (which is way too real to think about rn)
@BornToBeMild I heard case western has a very similar student body and good academic resources as NU but not a very good school spirit nor good location and case western is just a little less selective as NU, so it’s like my 6th choice… :(( My second choice is Ann Arbor
my match/low reach schools would be UMich, USC, WashU, Berkeley, William & Mary and Emory. And then I’m applying to Brown and Yale as well but those are basically just for kicks lol @lulu7575
@lulu7575 my safeties are UW Madison and Boston U. I also applied to Michigan and UVA early… if I get into Michigan but not NU, I’ll apply to Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia RD. If I get rejected from both NU and Michigan I’m adding in WashU, UPenn, Brown, Yale, and BU for RD.
I also applied to UMich EA, Michigan State, and USC. I would love to attend any of those schools but none of them compare to how badly I want to go to Northwestern!
@Zpower99 UMich is actually ranked above BU (although rankings don’t really mean too much). My main reason for really liking UMich is that I’m doing engineering, and Michigan is way way better than BU in that area. I’m hoping that I’ll get into Michigan, especially since I’m a double legacy, and it’s def in my top 5. Also I go to school around Boston and practically everyone from my school gets into BU hence safety lol
@Zpower99 IMHO, no top state school(Berkeley, umich, uva) should be considered a safety, unless you are a extremely qualified in state applicant. But then again, what do I know.
@qwertyem564@Chicagodreams9 yeah I just realized that after I posted it… every applicants have different charactistics and different college list. Sorry I was a little rude
