** Official Northwestern Class of 2021 Discussion Thread **

61 quest bridge applicants committed on December 1st to northwestern. Athletes and many legacies have very high odds of getting in and i imagine there are at least 100 of them.

@Chicagodreams9 @Vlau0707 Is sibling legacy impactful at NU if my sibling went for her undergraduate or is it just parents. Good luck to everyone!

I have a very similar college list to y’all. I’m also going to ED 2 Vandy if NU doesn’t work out. love emory usc michigan and more. some back ups are NYU BU Tulane and UM as i live in FL
@rockruff i know the speech kids from ur school! lol

I really like Wellesley and Haverford, as well as a few Ivies, but I love NU so so much more than anywhere else, I’m really praying for positive news this week!

@SimRanWalked Funny you should say that, I’m an officer on the speech and debate team!

@rockruff do you know Taylor Rich??

@purplepower99 Yes I do!!! I love her

@rockruff omg! I’m from Illinois but I know her from debate- she’s like my idol

omg this thread is my savior throughout this agonizing waiting process. i don’t even know what i’m gonna do if i don’t get into NU tbh…it’s been my dream for so long

@purplepower99 Omg same, I strive to achieve to her level of debate mastery (Although I doubt I will, I guess that’s why journalism is my main skill :p)

@rishipandey125 I honestly have no idea. I’m sure it counts for something, but I have no idea if it’s the same as having a parent.

Does anyone know if its okay to make a portal before they give us the email with it? Is there any chance of getting in trouble for it? Also, will the portal be updated before emails are sent of vice-versa? Super anxious!

@Chicagodreams9 how do you know 61 quest bridge applicants committed?

@h8highschool committed may not be the right word but my understanding is that qb applicants go to highest ranked school they are matched with and I saw 61 next to northwestern on the qb numbers page

@rishipandey125 @Chicagodreams9 I have a sibling at NU right now as well and I tried to search for how much sibling legacy affects admissions, and I found this article (it’s from 2009 but I assume it’s still accurate):
http://dailynorthwestern.com/2009/10/07/thecurrent/artsentertainment/sibling-unrivalry/

“When NU grants admission to sets of siblings, they are deemed legacies and are thus placed in the same category as Wildcats who don their alum parents’ vintage purple threads, according to Daily archives.”

so I guess sibling legacy counts as much as parent legacy does!

@spazysami13 I’m pretty sure it’s okay because I made my portal about a month ago and have logged in a few times and nothing’s happened. and I believe the portal is updated anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so before the emails are sent out

@ths17112 my college counselor says usually sibling legacy is called a half legacy. So it definitely helps in the admissions process just not as much as a parent one.

Curious—I know Northwestern is “need-blind,” but do they still look at family income to admit more low-income applicants?

My guess is that the decisions comes out in 36 hours! (6pm eastern time on the 14th like last year). They are probably making some last minute evaluations and making sure the freshman class looks good. I believe everyone’s decision is more or less solid?

I just found out that at least 4 other people from my school, probably 5, applied ED :(( i weep

do you guys know if grandparent graduate legacy counts? My grandpa went to law school and business school at northwestern.
