Hi people. I was wondering does Northwestern mail their application decisions or do they only send mails to the ones who got accepted?

@DDPurdue From what i’ve experienced and seen here on CC, they email a copy of the decision letter before they mail a copy despite being accepted/rejected

Do you know if they would expedite decisions if asked to do so? Because the other places I got are waiting on me but I don’t know the timetable for NU to respond (does anyone know when they’ll be done sending decisions?)

@jhoops522 based on what i’ve read they would. I would just call and ask. They’ve always been really easy and helpful on the phone

Hey,

Has anyone called to get a definite answer as to when they are releasing decisions? I know some people have already got them so I find it strange that the rest of us haven’t received anything. Still waiting on Carnegie and BU. Anyone know when these will be released.

Cheers.

Anyone received their decisions yet? Do you guys know whether they have a deadline to respond?

Has anyone heard back who applied to the School of Communications?

I know someone was asking if they will expedite the decision. They do have a list of people who need an earlier decision. I am also in need of an earlier decision, and have been placed on that list.

@shelberrto I applied for film as well! Still haven’t heard anything.

Anyone know when we can expect decisions?

I called on Friday and they said 2 weeks or less, so if your file was complete as of May 1st, I’d say it’s safe to expect a decision by June 15th. Fingers crossed. Good luck, everyone.

For those of you who have decided on other schools, could you please withdraw your application to open room for admission?

Did all of you who were accepted submit your final transcripts? I submitted mine like 2 weeks ago, so how much longer do you think I’ll have to wait? Another 2 weeks?

Honestly, I’m not expecting to get in. I’m already prepared to stay another semester at my current school and try for Spring 2013 at NU

I’ve been in touch with one of the transfer specialists regarding my application, who let me know that the office “hopes most applicants will hear from us by the middle of this month,” although some applications will inevitably be reviewed towards late-June.

Judging by last year’s thread, this seems in line with when decisions were released for 2011, although it seemed like there was an early batch that came out more towards early June.

The same specialist also said that all applicants were receive their decision via email, though she didn’t specify whether all applicants will also receive hard copies of their decisions, too.

Regardless, mid-June is next week… good luck to every body! I have a minor nervous breakdown every time I get notification of new emails, hah.

I really wish they had a online service on which we could check the progress of our application and our admissions decisions. NU is the only school I applied to that doesn’t have that :(

@CluelessBelle: I didn’t submit my final transcript until after I received my acceptance email/letter. I submitted a midterm report in mid-April, though, so that might have counted…? I’m not sure, though. I also didn’t even submit my NU supplement until the deadline (May 1), but I heard back on May 15.

That being said, I don’t think that the day you submitted your application and final transcript are correlated with decision reception. I called admissions the other week and asked why I heard back from them so early (basically to make sure that my acceptance wasn’t a mistake) and they said something to the extent of “you’re the type of student we were looking for” because of my equally strong accomplishments in psychological research and an uncommon fine art (theatre design).

In other words, the admissions process seems pretty random. I’ve heard that NU judges its applicants not only on academic accomplishments, but on how well they think you’ll fit in with the rest of the student body, what role you’ll play on campus, and what beneficial contributions you’ll make to the university…at least that’s what a Northwestern theatre professor told me. Therefore, since there are obviously so many qualified candidates and so few places in the incoming transfer class, it’s hard to predict one’s chances and when one will hear back from NU, especially since we don’t know what the university is looking for at the moment.

At least that’s what I’ve gathered.

I really hate the waiting game. I’m waiting to hear back from two schools (NU + my state school). Hopefully, I’ll hear back from them next week, but for now, I’ve got to concentrate on summer school :(

This is killing me. I really hope to hear from them before the 12th.

I was just accepted!!! I received the news at 1pm today, June 6th, and I’ve never been more excited in my life.
