Official Northwestern Transfer - Fall 2012

What are the chances that those of us left could possibly be admitted anymore? I’m beginning to feel defeated

^

I agree, but then why not just tell us? I mean, honestly, I doubt I’ll get in at this point, especially because I applied to Medill but waiting around for my rejection is agonizing, I really just want to hear it so that I can move on…

Because they don’t make decisions until after the deadline, the rolling admission is completely different and doesn’t mean that spots are taken up by people who get reviewed earlier. There’s no reason to lose hope!

Having to wait this long is really going to make the rejection (if I am) more painful, but getting in would make my year!

do we know how much turn around time they’ll give? like if we prays hard get in, how long do we have before making a deposit?

also, how good is NU at accepting transfer credit? i’m not trying to be presumptuous, i just want to be prepared!

@hashtagadrienne: I think deposits must be made within 2-3 weeks of your acceptance. If you’re applying to WCAS, CC classes aren’t accepted, but most work from a 4-year university should transfer. Interdisciplinary classes are a maybe transfer, and independent study courses definitely DO NOT transfer. If you’re a rising sophomore, I assume you’ve done mostly prereqs and intro classes this year, so most, if not all of those should transfer

I wish I could just get my decisions. For those that are still waiting I called the admissions office this morning and was told that all decisions would be made by the start/middle of next week. I just got in at CMU and applied to McCormick School of Engineering so I’m waiting to make a decision/pay my deposit.

Any suggestions as to where I should go (that is if I do get in at Northwestern) as I’m from Australia and can only gauge each based on their academic credentials. CMU has the reputation as a very good engineering college however I believe that NU provides a more holistic experience (i.e in terms of academics and extracurricular as well as college life).

Another factor I’m considering is which university would provide me with the best opportunity of getting into a good postgraduate school?

Cheers.

EriqP,

Honestly bro don’t worry. Once you’re in the league of these schools you’re good. The advantage that NU has is a higher overall rank and Chicago >>> Pittsburgh. However, CMU will provide great opportunities for you. I’m in a similar situation with Hopkins where I’d prefer to go to NU as well (for quite the same reasons) but realize that if you keep working hard wherever you end up, you’ll get great opportunities.

@eriqp123: Seriously?! So we still have to wait another week? Omg, I seriously just want to pull my hair out.

Anyway wow, congrats on getting into CMU! Either way, you’ll end up at a very prestigious university, so you have nothing to worry about. And if you’re stats were good enough for CMU, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get into NU.

I hope there’s still a chance for those of us left. To make us wait this long might be giving us false hope :(

CluelessBelle I don’t believe that is true. CC classes are transferable as long as they are not taken after you matriculate.

accepted into wcas!!!

are you guys getting emails?

got accepted into mccormick!

I got accepted into School of Communications! Radio/TV/Film

@sgplayer69 yes on the email you used to submit your app (the one you got he confirmation email on)

@tummy3250 congrats. I’m starting to become a little anxious now that a couple of people have already heard back from McCormick and got in… and I’m still waiting.

thanks!! hang in there!!

I’m trying! I shouldn’t complain though because I got in at CMU so it’s not all bad. Would prefer NU though…

Omg, congrats to the 3 new NU acceptees! Did you guys get those emails today? Would you guys mind sharing your stats?
Really starting to get anxious, especially as it seems decisions are really rolling out this week :frowning:
Well, hopefully I know by the end of this week or beginning of next! I start volunteering on Friday, so hopefully that’ll distract me a little (not really)

accepted to McCormick!
