***Official Nov 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

@Dynasty21 it improved health, i distinctly remember textual proof literally saying that it improved the families well being. and the second one i wasnt sure but i put an answer with superficial in it. Superficial seems to work after looking up the definition of it.

I agree about the brutal math curve; -1 will probably be 760. 770 at best

@bigbasu it said that the mean error of 15 people was 4 errors and that the mean error of 10 people was 5.5. What is the mean value of errors for the combined group, 25 people. It is (15)(4) + (10)(5.5)= 115 / 25 = 4.6

anyone else have anything to say about the “leveling” math question? i know that the answer was 5, but was it C or D?

@bigbasu @Feralbeast‌ everyone thought the oct math was hard and its curve was pretty brutal ahaha. I see it as most likely -1: 770 -2: 750/740 -3: 720 -4: 700

@Feralbeast‌ i got a 2030. Demoralizing and embarrassing b/c i studied so much for it. But i feel that i got a 2200 on this one.

I know i got one of the improving paragraphs wrong, the one with answer choices “regardless, what’s more” i got wrong. Not sure about any improving sentences or finding errors. And i got either an 11 or 12 essay. Hoping for a 770-800 in writing. Dont think i got any math wrong (800), and i got the peripatetic vocab wrong along with probably 7 or 8 passage Qs. Praying for over a 2260

Any reading curve predictions? In particular, maximum number of questions wrong for 700?

someone, please. the “leveling” math question? i know that the answer was 5, but was it C or D?

@emersonballer21‌ yeah, feeling a 2200 on this too haha. If in writing, the answer was “incidentally,” then I’m golden. It’s probably “what’s more” though.

@Dynasty21‌
Messy was definitely part of the answer (it wasn’t crude)
@emersonballer21‌ Oct math curve was a bit more generous: -4->720.
All silly mistakes, brought me down into the 2200s

@Feralbeast no what’s more is wrong. It means besides. That did not fit what the beginning of the sentence needed. I think the answer was “regardless” but im not 100 percent. And i put accordingly, not incidentally. The sentence said something like “Incidentally, the two men played the same music on their radio station that the people at the diner played on the jukebox”. It was supposed to be changed to “accordingly” im pretty sure. How would it be incidental that the men would play the same music as the people in the diner. It would be accordingly, which means, “suitably or appropriately” because the men had already heard the music before, so it wouldnt be incidental. Hard to explain over typing ahaha.

-4 mistakes for Oct Math was 700 not 720…

@Icedrops‌ the “messy” answer was literal. The line reference that the question asked was a statement like “dirty truth” and it wasnt supposed to be taken literally, so i dont think the answer was “messy”. Shoot the answer was the crude one. just looked up the definition of crude and it definitely fits. SHOOT I GOT IT WRONG

@TheCalculator‌
That’s my score from cb, so I’m pretty sure it’s 720
@emersonballer21‌
Aside from reading through quite a few debates about the question (yes, I’m a bit obsessive ATM, has read this post from first page to last), the author was writing figuratively. Crude is taking it literally -> it’s wrong because of the second part (doesn’t remember OTL). But there are some pretty convincing arguments in these 2000 something pages of sat discussion, so if you have free time, scan through and see if you can find one.

@Icedrops no. I even got it wrong and it’s clear now that crudeness is correct. the passage was saying that the pen shows the remarkable end results of the work but the pencil shows the dirty truth. The dirty truth is talking about the crudeness, or primitive, aspects of the work. That has to be correct. Also, missing one extra in CR won’t move ur score by more than 10 or 20. So it’s all good. Much rather get a CR wrong than math or writing haha

@Icedrops @emersonballer21 Pencil passage purpose a tribute or uncommon preference?

@Dynasty21‌ had to of been a tribute. The whole passage was talkin about how we sorta take for granted the pencil and it just pointed out everything the pencil does for us. Where would you get proof in the passage that pencils are uncommon preferences?

@emersonballer21 Well I ask bc I was conflicted between the two answers. But ultimately, the passage seemed to be portraying the idea that the pen was the smooth writing tool, whereas the pencil was its “dirty truth”. That’s why I eventually thought that the passage was “defending an uncommon preference”.

I got tribute because it was not defending the pencil. If it were defensive, the passage would have been more like “pens are superior, but pencils are also up there, you know”. It was more along the lines of “I really feel good vibes about pencils. Yeah, there are pens, but pencils are simply better for overall use, while pens have very niche uses.” Since there was no attack on pencils, I picked tribute.
