Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

So I just called the associate director who emailed me about midterm grades. Since my midterm grade report did not include a grade for one of the courses (because we hadn’t had any exams for that course when the midterm grades were released), she said they will have to hold on to the decision making until I have my final grades, which will be around May 20.

Screw this, I don’t want to wait for that long!

And I am not confident about my finals anymore, which starts tomorrow, which I should be studying for right now, but I have no motivation at all because I just want to know the decision NOW!

I wonder why they just don’t require the midterm report if they’re going to ask that many people for one :confused: They never asked me for one. I’m not sure if that’s fine, or if that’s indicative that something is up with my application.

Gah, I just found out the 8-credit Modern Greek summer course I was planning on taking over the summer at Indiana University got cancelled. Now I need to find a course to replace it, lest I have to call up NYU and tell them I’m not doing it like I indicated on my application :frowning: Prospects aren’t good if I don’t want to travel to Greece itself.

I got into stern today

@LondonKim Congratulations! THAT’S WONDERFUL!

Congrats Kim.

Two pieces of good news: I called today and they said they received my college transcript, and I’m pretty sure I got accepted to USC (didn’t get anything in the mail but a “Enrollment Commitment Deposit” link appeared on their site for me).

I was supposed to go job hunting today, but honestly I feel like sitting around doing nothing because I’m so ****ing happy. hahahaha

Wooow you finally got your decision and are in Kim.

Care to post to those who are desperately waiting to hear (about their decision) what your stats were, and how you were notified?

@tomokoshino

I had sent in my midterm grades with my original application and one teacher also didn’t give a grade since he had no criteria.

My question is - did you say NYU initiated the email, or do you think I should contact them first to make sure it’s not an issue?

Hey guys,

I just created an account because I have been following this thread for close to a month now! I applied as a sophmore transfer to tisch for a BFA in film production. This wait is honestly killing me. I would love to see a behind the scenes look at the decision process, must be quite thorough haha

cheers!

Yes, the associate director emailed me like 5 days ago to ask for the midterm report. I just faxed and mailed them this page I got online from my student account showing grades for most of the courses I am taking now. And I did not receive any notifications afterwards stating whether that document is sufficient or not, so I called today. And the thing is, now they want my final grades as well (which they did not, and I don’t think they planned on, telling me until I called just now). But I really don’t want to wait for so long.

It’s completely your choice, but I actually regretted calling LOL. If I didn’t call, they might just left it that way, and made decisions based on those other grades that were shown, which are all As.

@LondonKim

What time did you get the email. Congratulations! You’re the first Stern acceptance on CC, I think.

do you guys think we will get acceptances or rejections tomorrow?

danny, I wouldn’t doubt it. Someone mentioned something about emails being sent out every Tuesday/Thursday, so I was actually expecting a lot of acceptances/rejections tomorrow.

Thanks coolio,

One of my buddies also mentioned the tues/thurs pattern.
He told me that they usually delegate one of those days either for
acceptances or rejections, respectively. Don’t know if thats true.

What did you apply for?

I applied for physics, but my application was delayed because my school never sent out my college transcripts. I called today and they said they received them, but I’m not sure if I’ll hear back this week.

But after being accepted to USC, I have such high hopes for NYU now which seems like a similar school academically.

ooo thats rough dude! I would be soo mad at my university if
they forgot to send my transcripts. Congrats on USC though, thats
amazing… Will you go to NYU if you get in?

Haha I was ****ed because she was supposed to send them to 3 universities but none of them got sent out.

And Idk, it’s gonna depend on my financial aid and what other people say to try to convince me to go to the school. I’ve never been to LA though, so NYU/NYC has an advantage there.

I also have a few thousand dollars in NYS scholarships, so that’s helping NYU’s cause too. Assuming I get in, of course.

I’m just ecstatic because USC’s acceptance means that there’s very little chance I’m returning to Clarkson. =D

That’s great that you got accepted into USC! It’s a fantastic school but the area it’s located in sucks. There’s a reason why the whole school is gated. hehe I’m from LA so I’m not just hating on USC.

Yelp the area USC is in…ehhhh. La in general, bleh. That’s why I’m leaving. Congrats on USC!
