Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@oldwumpusale

Yeah true. The waiting still takes a toll on you though.
I applied to tisch for film and they downloaded my app
on feb 15th, soo i don’t know if what you said is true.

Thanks, Good luck to you too!

Ooh, my transfer credits from last semester have appeared :D

@caligulahorse: What school did you apply to?

CAS for Hellenic Studies.

Haha, no offense caligulas, but that seems like an obscure major (though I know I’d love taking a class or two in it because I enjoy ancient history).

I like being a physics major just because people are like “Oo, you’re a physics major!”

@bellatheball I love City College and have recently applied to their Film/TV program and am awaiting their response. I applied to NYU as my first choice in film but I am happy to continue with CCNY if NYU rejects me. City College has excellent professors, most being graduates of Ivy League schools who take serious pay cuts just to live in NYC, so the standard of teaching is great. I live on campus so I am constantly surrounded by fellow students because the thing most people dislike is that most CCNY students are commuters so it is rare that you interact with the students who don’t live around the school because they tend to take the class then leave straight away. But like I said, living in the dorms has eradicated that problem for me. The only thing that drives me nuts about CCNY is the bureaucracy that takes place in their offices! It takes a lot of work and phone calls to get them to do what you are asking them to do. But other than that I highly recommend City, especially if finances are an issue! (NYU is sooo expensive!)

@ahagirl1012 nope, not transfer credits here either.

@mspivey: Thanks! I haven’t heard back from them yet, but should I apply for housing now?

@coolio2244242 - Oh, no offense taken. Prior to deciding to take up Modern Greek, I was a Classics major, so I’m really used to people asking me, “What is that? … Oh. What are you going to do with that?” I think it’s kind of funny, tbh.

@bellatheball Yes absolutely, the sooner you apply the better! Otherwise you might not get the room arrangement that you want!

For those of you who have had your transfer credits appear, did it look like this?
http://i52.■■■■■■■.com/mhx6bs.jpg

I just don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch since it says “tentative,” doesn’t list the grades I earned, and doesn’t list my spring classes.

On the other hand, I guess the fact that they omitted my first-year seminar I took that fall too (I took 17 credits, and only 13 appear) could be a good sign. idk.

Yea that’s exactly how my page looks.

Hmmm I think I will try to apply to CCNY for transfer if NYU falls through.

hey guys! i’ve been following this thread for a while now waiting to hear back as well. just curious, I know someone already asked this earlier but has anyone received transfer credits and then got rejected? mine finally showed up tonight and i want so badly to FREAK out but i haven’t received anything official yet!

I actually applied to CUNY for the fall semester as well, but I just sent in my full application. Do you think there’s a shot at getting in, applying this late?

@squish what are your stats? when did you send in your app? i’d be excited, i dont think anyone has been rejected with transfer credits showing

@squish - Which school did you apply to?

You guys are so lucky that you’re even able to see if you have transfer credits or not. SCPS Paul McGhee Division doesn’t use Albert.

@enve and giantmidget- I applied to steinhardt and my application was completed over a month ago.
high school stats were nothing exceptional at all, thats why I hated that we had to send those in despite having two years of college under my belt. I never sent in my SAT scores though.
However, I do have a TON of extra curricular activities- two sports, student gov., best buddies group, two internships, community service, tutoring, leadership conferences, ect.
college-3.5 gpa, california community college, work 25-30 hours a week at the same place for the past year.

@squish2013: hey, what major did you apply to in Steinhardt? And when you mean your application was completed, do you mean everything was checked off besides your Standarized Test column? Because I didnt send my SAT scores either and it looks like that.
