Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@lolgirl

Congratulations!

That’s two Stern acceptances now. I don’t think I got in. =(

I remember a few weeks ago someone posted on here saying that they post transfer credits for everyone, including rejections, but I don’t know if that’s them trying to quell any thought of “expecting” acceptance or not (sort of like stopping backdoor notifications or something). Then again, that’s just me speculating. Still no e-mail.

I would find it peculiar why they would bother showing transfer credits to people who would just be rejected. It would seem like a waste of their time. I’d say that you’re safe if you have your transfer credits showing. :)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to tell you that my albert page was never updated with anything. All it said was where I was transfering from, what college, fall 2011, and my application date. I turned in my app on March 1. I called twice to make sure that my application was complete and it was. I also turned in my mid year report in the middle of April in order to increase my chances of getting in. I applied as a freshman in high school to CAS and got into the liberal studies program.

I am hoping my transfer credit page update means that I got in. It would mean the world to me.

For those of you who are still waiting, don’t worry, I know how you feel. I was in your exact position about 2 hours ago. I don’t think my app was that steller compared to others, so just believe that you’ll get in and you’ll be fine. REMEMBER: everything happens for a reason.

Good luck to everyone and thank you.

so let me get this straight there is no more on campus housing? how are you guys getting this information

If they said they don’t have space for “non-enrolled” students, surely that does not include transfer students since we would be “enrolled” into NYU once we got accepted?

I hope KingSundru misunderstood what they said. In any case, they surely would not accept more students than they can provide housing to, because the number of places depends on the number of people leaving. They won’t enroll more people than those that have already transferred out.

My girlfriend just got into Parsons and NYU is the only New York school I applied to. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to get in. Other forum-goers pay no notice to this post, but gods of college admission, show me a signnnnnnnn!!!

Yea, I agree with giantmidget though the way they worded their response to KingSundru is very odd and vague.

And guys, you really shouldn’t stress out about your applications. I mean, I can’t really talk because in addition to the King of Lazy, I’m also the King of Stressing Out, but my application is very bland. 3.68 GPA at the time of application and my college ECs were 90% intramural sports. I had very mediocre SATs (1880 with a HS GPA of 3.8) but I was able to get into USC (and now that my transfer credits are showing up, I’m feeling good about NYU).

I know it’s hard to be optimistic, but just try to get your mind of it. Do something you enjoy. Go out with friends, meet new people if your friends aren’t home yet, play sports (that’s what I do). But if you’re worried, then you’re not doing yourself any favors.

lol@me telling other people not to stress. Oh well.

For the person who asked, my son’s app got rejected and they never posted any transfer credits. He also got his rejection within 24 hours of them finally marking his app complete.
I would say that if you have transfer credits show up, it’s a good sign.

I also think that if you were asked for your midterm report (or maybe now final), they are at least considering you.

It would just have been much more helpful (in the case of Tisch) that they let you know you were rejected because you have no talent or you are brilliantly talented but you have no brains. LOL

@danny8 I would love to compare portfolios! PM me?

The person at Housing told me that mostly likely I would not be able to live on campus… because it was already full - and by currently enrolled it means, already accepted the admissions offer (which I did last night… So… Idk if I’ll be able to get a dorm or not). I just thought it was strange that they are full in housing even though they haven’t finished accepting transfer students. If you guys don’t believe me, then you can call housing and ask? Hopefully the person I talked to either made a mistake or I misunderstood what he was saying (which I doubt, because I rephrased what he said, and asked if I was correct in my understanding).

My guess is that they accepted a lot of freshmen, and that a lot of freshmen accepted the offer - filling up campus housing (they guarantee housing for freshmen for all four years).

Have any other steinhardt people heard? I saw that was rejected not that long ago, but that was the only decision for steinhardt I’ve seen here.

well the transfer thing does seem like a good sign… but heck if i would count my chickens there before I knew for sure if I was accepted.

It seems quite possible that several different departments look at your transfer materials, and the class processing might be independent of the admission decision. It might be you will get the go ahead from one department, but then they see you don’t have all the necessary classes completed so would reject you on that reason.

It’s probably not the case but I really would not want you to tell everyone you got in and then not have… doesn’t seem wise.

@mspivey: What do you like/dislike about CCNY? I also put my application in for there, and just added Baruch to it.

my transfer credits showed up last thursday a couple days after i sent in my midterm report and still havn’t heard anything…

So, what is it? Transfer creds only show up if you’re accepted?

@benellis: no I haven’t heard anything. Not even midterm reports actually. I don’t know if that’s a bad sign but for now, absolutely nothing. Were u asked for ur midterm reports?

Fucx NYU. Honestly, wft is taking soo long!
Im gonna have a mental breakdown ha

@mspivey

hey whats your email adress?

It makes sense that they respond based both on the department (or school) you’re applying to as well as when they downloaded their app. I would presume that interdisciplinary departments (such as Pre-Law/Pre-Med) would probably get their decisions later than other programs. Either way, as someone whose date downloaded is April 8th, I won’t get upset till the 15th. I don’t even bring my phone into the studio anymore or I don’t get any recording done. Best of luck though.
