Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@bellattheball: maybe you should withdraw your application :smiley: (only joking!)

I’ve been following this thread, although I haven’t posted in it yet. I still haven’t received my decision ;.;

The last I heard from NYU was on the 2nd, when they sent me an email saying I was missing transcripts, but when I called them, they said everything was there and they could “begin” to evaluate my application. Ugh, such disorganization.

Anyone else applying to CAS who’s still waiting?

The professor who wrote my letter of rec. and has 3 degrees from NYU (including a Phd) called a “friend” in admissions on my behalf to find out whats up, and he/she wouldn’t give her any insight either. From what they told her, Steinhardt is very competitive for the upcoming term, and they received tons of applications, many of which were incomplete. He/she would not give details about what program is most competitive, or why MCC has not heard anything. My professor is confident in my pending decision, but she also concedes she has never seen the process work like this before. And so the agony continues.

woot woot got in todayy! does the transfer credit include the last semester, for which I didn’t have grades yet or not?!

Got into College of Arts and Science, and received their email notification today!!

I am an int’l transfer, currently sophomore. According to Albert I got 36.5 credits transferred. Is that too little for a second year transfer, or is that kinda normal?

@icelash, I’m also waiting for CAS

However, I just got an email from my admission’s counselor, and she said that my application is currently being reviewed. And since I just told her, in our last email exchange, that I got diagnosis to be clinically depressed two weeks ago, they’re putting that in consideration, and I should hear back by the end of next week.

…So, next week then…

;A;

NYU is ****ing me off.

@peanutbutterfan I sure hope this happens for us 2011 transfers as well! Still haven’t heard a whisper from NYU.

whats the financial aid like for transfers

insomniac, the financial aid I got wasn’t great. They’re only giving me 5,500 per year (and considering how much NYU costs, it’s like shooting a bear with a BB gun) but I figure since I’ve spent the last two years going to a private school for pretty cheap (I got a lot of scholarship), it won’t be terribly expensive for 2 more years.

And just don’t think about it guys. I was pretty damn pessimistic before my decision and was expecting to get denied, but obviously I got in. Try to do stuff and get your mind off it…there’s nothing you can do about it at this point except worry (which isn’t good).

@Lauren - No, the deadline to apply for housing is June 1st…which is incredibly stupid considering how many people a. haven’t gotten decisions and b. will have to wait 3-4 days for their aid packages…

Wow, housing is cutting it extremely close. I haven’t even narrowed down where I’d want to live if I get accepted. Does anyone know where alot of transfer students choose to live? I was thinking maybe doing a dorm with a themed floor, possibly relating to Film/Arts. Any other good options?

transfer credits just showed up, now I’m just waiting for the financial aid info.

BTW I’m applying to Stern for anyone else who hasn’t heard yet

I don’t understand their housing webpage… where can I see the available buildings and costs?

can you list some stats/ essay details/ major?

@nyustern18 Look here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1036986-nyu-2011-transfer-decisions.html

@brickbybrick: Yeah, that’s what I meant, haha. I’m pretty sure the housing deposit is refundable (or so I’m hoping I remember reading somewhere), but this short timespan to figure everything out is not doing any favors for those of us who are still waiting.

Officially in NYU!!! Will fill out my stats soon in the other thread.

$500 deposit!? That’s $20 more than I have in my checking account. @_@

edit// Also, what is this deposit for? It was so random.

That’s $490 more dollars than I have in my checking account =P
