Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

hahaha coolio, what are you deciding? USC or NYU ??? ( I don’t mean to put pressure on you, but kind of in the same position here… )

is there a facebook group for newly admitted transfers?

Yeah. Just search for “NYU Fall 2011 Transfer Class.”

I’m going to call tomorrow and see what the deposit is actually for. I just think that it’s strange that they’re asking for a deposit one step after you accept admission.
I’m going to see if I can get a waiver and ask about potential future robberies I might run into along the checklist.

Look out for me next semester. I’ll be the one panhandling out of a cardboard box on campus.

Keachoy, you looking for a roommate? I promise I don’t smell TOO bad.

And moniso, I’m probably going to NYU because my mom is ****ing me over with financial aid at USC. I asked her to fill out a form and she still hasn’t and I got into an argument with her about it…it’s ridiculous.

i’ve got one question. I applied for sociology at CAS, but both in the email notification and on Albert, it states my academic program is CAS, nothing about my major is mentioned. does that mean my major is still undeclared, or am i enrolled in sociology directly?

So, if I don’t get into NYU or I do not receive financial aid, I am probably going to go to Rutgers. What is funny about RU is that the name of the dean for the Honors College of Arts and Sciences is Dean Muffin Lord. I am NOT kidding. Muffin Lord…

NYU, seriously, just let me in!

@lauren229. I already got into nyu but now i am waiting on my finaid package. rutgers is my fall back school too! which campus?

Rutgers New Brunswick. I have a house right off College Ave. with four of my friends if I end up going to NB (It is actually a great house). But I’d rather go to NYU. I’m worried about the fin. aid a bit though. 55K out of pocket for two years each year of undergrad is a bit much.

@lauren229, yeah i definitely agree. i would much rather go to nyu but i’m waiting to see how much i’ll have to pay for 2 years
and I’ll be going to NB too if it doesn’t work out with nyu, but I choose living in a dorm

Bahahhah! Dean Muffin Lord…that just made my day! :)

@xxmzchoixx – I know, me too! How am I supposed to take their Honors College seriously? Really?! Haha

@aszcek – I was going to live on-campus there until this opportunity came up. I wanted to live off-campus, but it was insane trying to find a place. Thankfully, my friends’ house had a room open up (and it is a bonus that is only a block and a half away). But I would give this place up in a heartbeat for NYU.

@coolio well good thing is that you have always preferred NYU against USC, right? Any way good luck with your mom and with financial aid :)

I’m starting to think that Tuesday/Thurs notification thing is true…

@coolio2244242- Hahaha. Let’s just start a student slum in the quad. If you prefer USC, I hope the financial aid stuff works out.

@Lauren- Dean Muffin Lord!? THAT’S SO COOL.

Is anyone in the process of applying for university housing? I thought I read about a transfer cluster somewhere, but I can’t find any information on it.

@Keachoy – Do you mean the places that are available for transfers to apply for? Essentially, a good amount of transfers will be living in these buildings…

I got accepted into Tisch Film and TV yesterday morning.

To those who’ve been accepted and going to Tisch for Film & TV, are you guys planning on doing the 1 production class or the two screenwriting classes for the summer session?

@Lauren- Not just that, but usually universities set aside whole floors just for transfer students. Something like that would be my first choice. <:

@Acquisition X I’m not doing the summer classes because I already took those classes before but I am still not sure if I will get credit for them or not…

@Acquisition X and mpivey … are we allowed not to go in the summer? I’m an international student… my student visa will not be ready for summer, that’s for sure…
