Hey, do you guys know of any link where we can check the status of our app? I just want to make sure they receive everything ok.

I’ve recently read on NYU’s website that the transfer acceptance rate for the College of Arts and Science is around a 10-15%. I have to say that I am a little surprised by that statistic. Anyone else?

“Competition for transfer admission is significant. Our admit rate for transfer applicants is typically between 10 and 15%.”

[College of Arts & Science](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

I never saw that statistic. I do find it surprising though. Looking at Collegeboard’s numbers:

Applied: 5,986
Admitted: 1,981
Admit Rate: 33%

I find it frustrating NYU does not release transfer numbers. People have also speculated that Stern has around 10-15% acceptance rate. If you add the other schools (which I assume have lower application rates) then the acceptance rate would hover around 33%.

10-15% ?? I was under the impression that it was around 30-35%. hmmm.

corvin: here is the link that i have been using. my “net id” came in an email i recieved about a week after i applied.

Part of me feels all colleges that receive Title IX money from the government should have to fully, and openly, disclose their admissions statistics either on their site or to all respective applicants. The information should be available for everyone to see, definitely considering there is an application fee for transfer and normal admission.

when should we hear our decisions?

The whole college transfer thing idk how I feel about it anymore. I mean they tell you to work hard and get good grades do Ec yet schools want to be snubbish and have a low admit rate. How do they expect us to have hope when they just deny us? We apply and strive for the best schools only to get shutdown? then what… Idk what I will do if I do not get into any of the schools i’ve applied to. I am really at my whitsend

and Mid-may is when NYU states they will let transfers know (it’s on the site)

Do they send e-mails or or a letter in the post?

Not sure for transfers. I know last year, freshman received an email stating to visit the school, etc (basically said they were accepted without actually stating the words) then they received packages. I assume the decision will most likely come through the mail.

I’m losing my mind over here. I thought my NYU transfer essay was great before I submitted it. Now that I have submitted it, I’m doubting myself. I’m not sure whether I went on a bashing rant of my previous college or not. I pretty much stated that I felt my major was greatly underrepresented at my previous college and lacked a number of resources. Does that sound like I’m bashing my previous college?

The decisions are not for a while, like mid may and later. Good luck to all. I applied to Stern for finance. I feel I have a good shot with great essays and fit and interest in finance. I also come from a pretty good program, the baruch honors program which is similar to macaulay for baruch, so I have a shot.

The chances are definitely not high, i mean for transfer admissions particular for Stern, so 15 percent is about right.

Just have to wait and see.

Its probably going to cost me a lot for the last two years, hopefully they give me some aid, scholarship, etc.

Saw on the admissions part of the school website that undergraduate decisions would be released over the phone starting Mon. April 4th… is this true for transfers or just freshman applicants?

@michs1234

The website states under important transfer dates that transfer applicants will be notified by early to mid May.

Seems like such a long wait. :(

How competitive is CASE economics?

@Bella - I feel the same way about my whole application!

hey everyone!
i applied to NYU about 2 weeks ago in SCPS Hospitality and Tourism Management for fall 2011! I will be going into my sophomore year.
My GPA is a 4.0 from Marymount Manhattan College, sats 1740 (ehhh), and i have a complete resume, unique supplements, and a thorough essay!
I was wondering if anyone could let me now about the process and how heavily SATs are weighted. I was rejected from NYU the first time around and i really believe it was because my SATs. Hopefully, my GPA will give me some advantage.
I have not yet received an email. I called about a week ago and was told by a councilor that we would be notified mid april if any materials are missing, if not assume they have everything.
Ive been mad stressed out and i would really appreciate some help! So who ever has any answers to any of these questions, it will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much

did anyone have the complete application sign on albert login?

I sent all of my materials 1 month ago and nothing has changed since then.

Thanks!

I wonder if CC would hire me as a “chance poster”. I could just pull numbers out of my ass and if I’m wrong I could just make sure to not give out “certainties”.

kevin, I give you exactly a 50% chance to get in.
