To confirm for a friend is the NYU transfer app due 3/31 11:59 eastern time or 4/1 11;59 eastern time?

its due at 11:59 on 4/1 according to an email i received from NYU admissions

also, does anyone know how we can tell if/when nyu downloads your app from the CommonApp website?

@giantmidget how do you check/see if NYU DL’ed your app?

@thf

Next to “application” it will change to downloaded and the date. They’re pretty quick - mine changed the day of. For Columbia it took 4 days!

@giantmidget, do you think Stern and CAS are a reach for thf because of his GPA?

Haha because you’re worrying me. I have a 3.688 GPA (applying as a junior to CAS for physics) but I still have a hard time comparing that to a gpa of someone like thf’s…I don’t want to do a “chance me” but I’m stressing out more than ever now.

Also, how likely is it that they request spring grades? Like I said in the USC transfer thread, I’m taking 19 credits with mostly junior classes (2 extra math classes because I’m considering dual majoring in mathematics too) and I’m afraid my GPA won’t be as high at the end of this semester.

The first supp question is important, the other two, arent as important, plus what could I say in like 500 characters for supp #2 and #3? I mean in four sentences, I can’t explain well enough, maybe for the third one.
I basically am taking the important parts from supp # 1 and putting it into my main CA essay.

I am applying to stern.

hopefully they looked mainly at the CA essay, as that is my main arguments.

lol last time i think its was 500 when I applied to NYU. I got in the liberal studies program, I just added teh rest of the statements to a form that I put together in the additional section. But I believe it was through the nyu embark and also they said you could if u needed more space, but this time it doesn’t state that.

Looking at the GPA of a student and chancing is very difficult. Your application depends on several factors - Extracurriculars, Essays, Recommendation, High School records and SAT scores.

From looking at previous years transfer threads, people with a 4.0 have been rejected from Stern, while people with 3.5’s and 3.6’s have been accepted. What this tells you that the process is truly holistic, and a set GPA or SAT score will not get you there.

But yes, I did say that because of the GPA. It works like this - If he has average essays and recommendations with a 3.38, and someone else has average essays recommendatons with a 3.8, obviously the 3.8 will be in with a higher shot. However, if someone with a lower GPA has other aspects of his application top notch, well then it remains hard to tell.

I don’t want anyone to take me too seriously, I’m just going by what I’ve learnt looking through previous years transfer threads. I may be completely wrong, and if I am, I apologize for misleading you.

Any of you guys know how difficult it is to transfer into SCPS from another university?

Hey Guys,

Just submitted my application and am finally ready to begin the tortuous process of counting the days till May. Quietly optimistic about my chances but since I love my home school not too worried.

Wish you the best!

@oldwumpusale - Which school did you apply to?

@giantmidget, yea I understand all of that stuff. And though when I had my essay checked over by 2 different people at my school’s writing center and they pretty much praised my essay and said it was great, I’m still worried that maybe they were trying to sugar coat it and everything.

I really want to get into both NYU and USC so I’ll have a choice between them too.

The ps are not that bad, you really have to condense the stuff. Im trying to finish mine by 7pm around.

I applied to CAS on March 8th. I have not received an email or anything by mail containing my netID. Is anyone else having this problem??

DONE- and now I wait

@CJE, I haven’t gotten anything either (sent everything last week) so I called them up to see if I they could tell me if they received all of my stuff yet and they said they can’t tell me over the phone but no news is good news. So I guess for a week or two now it’s ok if we don’t get our NetID (it’s not like we really need it for a while anyway).

Submitted my application.!!! The waiting game begins! Good Luck to everyone!

Heres one for you guys…chance?
