Anyone knows if NYU release result in a certain order?
like if certain college get released earlier?
Or it is all in random order?

did anyone get the downloaded status for second part of the application in common app?
mine is not downloaded even though i submitted it since february

@moya90: what do you mean?

@moya90
thats weird… mine was downloaded two days after i submitted… but I submitted around march 20th ish…

I think someone said that decisions were being released on a rolling basis, so the earlier you submitted your app, the earlier you should get your decision. It makes sense…I sent mine in mid-February.

The subject line in the email was “Your NYU Admissions Decision.” Kind of ominous. I was hyperventilating when I clicked on it, lol. Here’s a copy of the email:

"Dear [Applicant],

On behalf of the admissions committee, it is my honor and privilege to share with you that you have been admitted to the College of Arts and Science at New York University. Congratulations! I could not be more excited to welcome you to NYU.

Albert Gallatin, Treasury Secretary to U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, founded NYU in 1831. NYU has since grown to become the largest private university in America and now 180 years later, I have the pleasure of welcoming you to one of the most influential institutions in the world.

Please view our Critical Instructions to learn how you can review your preliminary statement of transfer credit and how to confirm your enrollment online. You will need your NYU University ID number, which is […] and your NetID, which is […]. The deadline for you to confirm your enrollment is exactly three weeks from the date above. The deadline for you to confirm your enrollment is exactly three weeks from the date above. If you applied for financial aid and you qualify, your financial aid award will be available within the next three business days via your NYUHome account and Albert, the online portal to NYU’s student information system.

Please understand that we do not, under any circumstances whatsoever, allow transfer students to defer their admission or enrollment. As a result, your admission is only valid beginning with the upcoming semester.

We are, however, offering some incoming transfer students the opportunity to begin their NYU studies at one of our global academic centers in Berlin, Florence, or Madrid. For some transfer students, this may represent your best opportunity to study abroad during your time at NYU. Whether or not you will be able to take advantage of this opportunity will be dependent on your department requirements in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the availability of course offerings at each global academic center. If you have an interest in exploring your options to study abroad at one of NYU’s global academic centers, please contact Tania Barnes in the Office of Global Programs via email at tsb210@nyu.edu or by phone at 212-998-4284.

Information about important matters such as housing (if available), orientation, advisement, and registration will be sent to you after you have confirmed your enrollment online. You should be aware that as with all of our admission offers, your admission is contingent on the successful completion of your existing academic program at a performance level comparable to the one presented in your application. We expect that you will remain in the rigorous program of study you initially presented, so you must secure permission from NYU before altering your academic schedule. To secure permission, you may send an email to admissions.ops@nyu.edu with any course change requests.

Finally, please be aware that your final college transcript (showing your most recent college grades) is due by July 1. Your final transcript will be required efore you can register for classes at NYU and move into an NYU residence hall if housing is available and you plan to live on campus.

[Applicant], you have every right to be proud of your accomplishments and I encourage you to celebrate with your family and friends who have supported you on your intellectual journey thus far. We look forward to welcoming you into the NYU community and meeting you soon.

Sincerely,
Shawn
Shawn L. Abbott, Ed.D.
Assistant Vice President of Admissions"

It’s a really nice acceptance letter. It really made me smile, not just cause it’s NYU and I wasn’t rejected, haha.

By the way, there was more to the email, but it was just what you should do as an admitted student (ie. activate NetID, etc).

Hm the rolling decisions is new but not consistent. Didn’t someone say they submitted their application at 11:59 and was just recently admitted?

@mitch

yes that was me, maybe its alphabetical lol…who knows its probably a random shuffle of who the counselors get

Cloudyafternoons, what time of day did you receive your acceptance email?

The most logical answer would seem by school but who knows.

likewow, thanks for the response. It’s too late to drop classes now anyway (finals already started) but I really don’t think I’m in danger of getting lower than a C.

I really hope I get my letter soon. What a fucking boost of confidence that would be.

And Cloudy, that’s awesome. What’s your major?

And that global study thing sounds ridiculously interesting. If I get in, I’m definitely looking into that.

Anyone got admitted to Stern already?

Admitted to CAS. Economics major with concentration in policy. Does anyone know if NYU is generous with financial aid? Because that’s really going to be the deciding factor…

Rumor is NYU FA is awful, especially for transfer students who receive the crumbs from the bottom of the cookie jar.

@Echelon Sapphire

No one on CC has, as of yet.

By the way, what are your stats? I’d like to see how I measure up against the other applicants to Stern.

Sorry this stats posting took so long…I was trying to find a good list cause I didn’t know what stats to include!

**Accepted - NYU CAS; MAJOR: Classics **

Stats:
[ul]
[] College transferring from: SUNY Binghamton
[] Entering as: Sophomore
[] GPA: 3.8
[] Credits completed: 18 (22 if I count APs from HS, but I don’t think those are transferring)
[li] Credits in progress: 16
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:
[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: Habitat for Humanity, Student Volunteer Center, The Knitting Club, Environmental Club, Art Club, Volleyball (Some of these are from HS, obviously, lol)
[] Job/Work Experience: None, unfortunately.
[] Essays (subject and responses): I wrote why I wanted to transfer–family issues that are too depressing to talk about online, lol.
[] Letters of Recommendation: 2. I know I only needed one, but yeah. I know they were both decent, but the one from the prof. in my major was probably better because 1) it’s from my major; and 2) my prof. is so sweet, and I know she put a lot of effort into it.
[/ul]Other:
[ul]
[] Other schools applied to: Rutgers, Hunter, Fordham, Columbia (<–LOL, AS IF. I’m lucky I got into NYU). Accepted to Rutgers and Hunter, haven’t heard back from Fordham or Columbia.
[] Comments: I’m REALLY surprised I got in, but SOSOSO happy! Now, if only NYU will give me money, HAH. I think my major might’ve helped me with my acceptance. If you’re scratching your head wondering what a Classics major is, it’s basically just a shorter name for Latin and Ancient Greek. I pretty much just study dead languages and really awesome civilization. It’s good fun.
[/ul]

If you can post your stats on the thread below as well (a copy & paste will suffice). Seems people are having trouble with the formatting but oh well.
