Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@peanutbutter, we both know that I’m not cool enough to be showcasing a ponytail like that, so I can only dream about being as awesome as that guy. And yes, everyone knows I talk about the economic situation of the American colonies pre-Revolutionary War.

@Cloudy, haha I know what you mean. Then I realized Columbia accepts like 3 transfers a year so I pretty much got completely discouraged by that. Then again I’m second guessing my current life-plan, so I’m pretty much in a hell-hole futurewise.

For those who didnt get an email, check your junk or spam folder. My first mail from nyu was in there.

Oh I thought this was weird, but I checked my app status and it said my HS transcript was missing, but I still received the acceptance letter. So I guess they don’t always update it before sending out the decisions? lol

@coolio With Columbia I just need confirmation of my rejection, lol. I know I don’t have much of a chance, but if I manage to get in and don’t go, I’d probably have to cry for about three weeks, lol. NYU seems better suited for me anyway. Columbia’s great and all, but I just feel really intimidated by them. Sometimes I think everyone there is just TOO amazing and smart and perfect. I’d be ostracized because, for once, I’m not nerdy enough, hah.
Well, good luck with your life plan. I have no idea what to do with my life, but I take comfort in the fact that I know my major, lol. At least I got that over with. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to decide what I’m eating for lunch, so you can only imagine how bad I am with life decisions…

@caligulashorse People in my Latin class are so mean that they just sit there arguing with the professor about why the grammar makes no sense at all. As if English makes all the sense in the world…
Anyway, I can’t wait to get to upper level Latin/Greek! But once I actually get there, I’ll probably wish I could take a time machine back to the elementary level, :P

@Cloudy Columbia students intimidating? Come on! They’re still regular people. I know friends who went on to Columbia but they’re not half a genius as the girl who went to a state university. The truth is, there are amazing people everywhere on every campus, but prestige gives a false illusion that people attending a prestigious university are different. If I transferred to NYU from my not-well-known university, am I any nerdier? :)

Hey everyone, i’ve been reading this forum for the last couple of days and what we’ve learned is that if all your materials have been checked off in albert then your application is most likely under review and if your transfer credits have been listed then you are in… so from this is it fair to say that if your materials were checked off as complete, and if your transfer credit does not show up/you did not get the acceptance email within a week or so, you most likely did not get in?

i called them today and they said decisions may be sending from May 1st

i didnt get any email about missing material and they said it meant my application was complete.

what a huge relief.

but again, for the supplementary part in common application. did u get the status downloaded???

Anyone worried about their application status on Albert - if you really want to quell your worries, just call the admissions office and ask the student ambassador to transfer you to an admissions counselor. My HS transcript has been missing on Albert even though I sent it about a month ago and I just called and they told me it was in, my application was complete and that it was “currently under review”. The counselor also said the majority of applicants will have to wait another week or two to hear a decision, in keeping with their early-to-mid-May statement.

I called admissions. They said that a few people will receive it before May, but the bulk of them will be coming within the first two weeks.

As for me, I’m going to stop checking my email every few minutes. So useless.

GUYS… just a kind reminder… i figured the student admission assistants are not that helpful in checking the materials. I called yesterday to make sure they got everything that I sent a month and half ago… and the student assistant told me that if I havent got any email regarding the missing material, I’m all set. BUT i saw some posts here saying we need to talk to the admission conselor to check the status… So I called today again, and asked to transfer to the admission conselor… the lady checked my status and told me they dont have my high school transcript.// I was freaking out, cuz I sent them all in one pack… so it was weird they have everything but my HS transcript… anyways… I spent 25$ to make an overnight Fedex to there… it’s gonna be there by tmr monring… thank god… they better have it by then… SO… PLEASE make sure to ask to transfer to the ADMISSION CONSELOR!!! they are more official… and BTW… two months ago… the student assistant actually told me they only need my college transcript as a junior transfer… I dont know why it’s not consistant with what the admission conselor told me, although I still sent my HS transcript…

Why did you spend $25 to overnight it when you could just fax it there and get it there quicker lol?

@tangyj

When I called, it seemed like the lady was just checking the system for what documents are processed cos she said my high school transcript wasn’t there. I asked her to physically check the file and she said they had my high school transcript.

Hi there. I’ve been lurking for a few days now. We received confirmation directly from Tisch when my son submitted his portfolio but it doesn’t show as having been received in the applicant status. Does this mean Tisch isn’t done with it or Albert hasn’t been updated? Thoughts? Albert doesn’t show receipt of his high school transcript either but his h.s. is closed this week for spring break so nothing could be done until next monday anyway.

You received confirmation from Tisch directly? Did you call them or did they call you?

@rickysmon: I think Albert doesn’t update it. My Albert said my application is incomplete until I called the office. So you might want to call just to make sure!

Received confirmation from Tisch via email.

wow… no acceptances todayyy

@Conncoll
Well… I guess you are right… but idk whether they accept the HS transcript via fax tho… so… i just sent it out… idk…

Just got my FA package…$17,400 in scholarships/grants. It’s nice but…I think I’m going to have to decline admission :(

@cloudyafternoons. that sucks… at least if you decline someone else will get the opportunity… unlike some people who just leave it be.
