Hey,

I’ve applied to NYU as an International transfer student for fall 2011.
When do we find out the decision?

k e e n

I checked Albert and now my hs transcript is checked off, but not my standardized test scores, which was sent electronically. Should I even bother calling to ensure it’s there? They did say my app is complete yesterday though.

@GiantMidget –> my blackberry has been going crazy with e-mails from cc. Its little light never seems to stop blinking.

@bellatheball –> my scores were the last to show up on my page for NYU and a different school even though they were electronically sent.

Accepted! CAS :)

@KingSundru –> Congrats! What is your intended major for cas? Also would you mind posting your stats?

CAS - American And English Literature
Stats:
College transferring from: Oakland University
Entering as: Junior (Probably, depending on which classes get accepted from current semester)
GPA: 3.5
Credits completed: 44 (Most of these are one step below capstone courses)
Credits in progress: 16 “”

Subjective:
ECs listed on app: Japan Club, Student Writing Group which published a Literary Journal (I co-founded the club and serve as treasurer), Alpha Lambda Delta (Honors Society), and Sigma Tau Delta (English Honor Society).
Job/Work Experience: Five years at a telecommunications company, 6 months as an editor/proofreader for a company, Tutor at my old highschool, and Book reviewer for newpages.com
Essays (subject and responses): I wrote essays focusing heavily on what made me different from other people and why I would be a good fit for the university.
Letters of Recommendation: Stellar Recs - they let me read them before-hand to make sure that they had done the correctly.
Other: Academic Rigor - very very high. Highest level English Class every semester. Calculus 2. Biochemistry. Other random fun/hard classes.
Comments: 33 ACT and 2100+ on SAT, HS GPA = 3.5 - Graduated with Honor from HS. Bronze Award in Latin competition. Runner-up in short story competition. Graduated with honory pins in 7 fields in HS. Swim Team in HS. Other random stuff I’m probably forgetting.

Hey King,

When did you apply?

Does anyone know if people have received rejections?

King, congrats!

What was the date you must respond by?

Did they tell you what transfer credit you will get?

Have you figured out, or do they tell you, which MAP courses you must take?

Thanks

called the undergraduate admission office today to ask the status of my “missing transcripts” and the lady working their does not seem very happy. why the **** shes working there… i dont know. NYU is laggin’ big time!

I’m assuming this is another day where the majority aren’t receiving their letters. I hate this anticipation.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been looking at this thread for a while now but never posted, as I am looking to transfer to Steinhardt MCC. I haven’t really seen anyone get accepted there yet, I’ve mostly seen CAS and Gallatin acceptances and I’m just so anxious that I called today to find out what was going on. The lady I spoke to said that we should be hearing back between the end of this week and beginning of next. I hope that’s true because I really don’t want to wait anymore… I submitted my application by early Feb so it’s annoying that they don’t give priority to early applicants. She said it was still “under review,” what does that even mean?

Only Steinhardt kids will be hearing back then? or does that apply to everyone?

@thegreatperhaps: haha I know the wait’s killing me too…they said the same thing last week that we’ll be hearing this week or next week so I think we should just try not to hold our breath. In my opinion, I think they are just giving estimated answers to us now (although I don’t think it’s wrong, we’ll just have to wait to see when the result comes out) because they are tired of answering the same question over and over again :p

@thegreatperhaps: I applied to MCC as well!

This thread is usually so active, but there seem to be tumbleweeds rolling around these last two days. COME ON NYU!

^I guess it’s because its finals week for a lot of us.

Also, I’m not sure what else there is left to say, most people are just waiting to hear back.

I would like to hear more discussion among the CAS applicants as to how problematic the Morse (gen ed) requirements are. So far football and I are the only ones troubled by this.

I thought about that earlier, Kayf. I am a bit intimidated by it, but I think that transfer credits will work out fine. At my current school, Fordham University, there is a MUCH bigger core that carries us throughout the four years. NYU’s MAP is designed to only last two, leaving students junior + senior year to knock out their program.

Either way, I am sure NYU will be accommodating in terms of credit transfers. If there were only going to transfer your credits as electives, they wouldn’t have bothered to accept you.
