Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@bizcollege – i didn’t really apply to many places, so at this point either rutgers or drexel. I probably should have diversified more haha

I only applied to NYU… so… it’s NYU or bust. lol

RU and Drexel are complete safeties. I knew I’d get in… I only want NYU though :/

I’m transferring from a two-year school though so I have to go somewhere. I can’t stay where I am currently.

NYU or bust here too. Have a complete plan laid out for both places, but my heart is at NYU. Hopefully, we find out soon. I just need to know so I can get on with my life!

Question for everyone:

My school allows selective withdrawal of a course around halfway through the semester. I knew I didn’t have an A in the class (though I certainly wasn’t failing) and I had decided to change my major. This was first semester freshman year (I’m a second semester sophomore now/applying as a junior) and this course will be marked as W on my transcript showing that I did withdraw but no grade will be shown/ anything actually negative. They shouldn’t use it against me, but then again
I did not explain this in my application.

Do you think I should call or write a letter to NYU explaining the withdrawal?

I have a couple withdrawals on my application… I am going to fax in an explanation tomorrow on them… I figure why not

Lauren: electric zoo!? That already sounds amazing! I’m gonna go to electric daisy in vegas in June.

For my safety nets (schools) I applied to pace and Fordham and those are a go. So yea, but I fell in love with nyu, so I’m hopeful that I’ll get in.

I really only applied to difficult schools… NYU, Wellesley, Barnard, and Northwestern. If I don’t get in anywhere, I’ll go to community college for a year. I just won’t come back to my current school… never.

Zoo is the best festival I have ever gone to. Period. A couple of my friends and I are going to sublet over Labor Day weekend and go to Zoo… I met A&B last year there. I was so happy, I acted like a 4 year old afterwards.

Dude, I am jealous that you’re going to that one! Ugh! Check out ID festival too. Or gov’s ball on governor’s island. Both this summer. Both fantastic.

@Moxie – Where you do go now?

Lauren- I’m at Hofstra. Words cannot describe how much I hate being here!

Oh, oh, oh, right, it is on LI… things are beginning to be pieced together now, haha. (I’m really hoping that you had said that being on LI sucked because it wasn’t close to the city at all… please tell me I’m not mixing things up. I’d feel like an idiot, haha)

Yep that’s me! One of the many reasons I don’t like being here. They made such a big deal about the city being nearby during orientation, but it’s not!!!

I looked up zoo right now. Dude the lineups are pretty MADD sick! Haha may I join? Jk look at me inviting myself to everything! I have to check the others out, never heard of them.

Yo guys add me on Facebook. If you want, this is me be social and trying to make friends. Rene Ignacio Kiuftis-Moreno. :)

Mah bad, being*

I will look you up as soon as I go on! My only problem with FB is that I will stay on there once I go on, sooo I am avoiding it until I finish my chem work, haha

Haha I added you reney, my pic is the one with the cat in the Redsox hat.

That’s gonna be one thing that sucks if I transfer to a NYC school. Being a Redsox fan in New York city (it’s bad enough in Upstate New York).

idk what to do if i dont get in nyu. i dont think ill be happy at any other school. bad idea to take a year off and try to get a good internship or something until i can apply again ( since im a junior, getting more credits would probably worsen my app)???

Enve- You could do a gap year I guess. Spend some time volunteering or pursuing something you’ve always wanted to try, but didn’t have time. I took a gap year after high school and volunteered/worked abroad for 8 months. It really changed my perspective on what I wanted to do with my life, which was good in most ways… (bad in the sense that I turned down UCLA because I wanted to be closer to the UN and DC, but ended up at a less-than-desirable school because no other places were taking applications).
Anyway, if you do something that you really enjoy, I don’t really think it could hurt your chances… just keep a plan B ready in case you don’t get in.

I shall add you  - This is me Redirecting...; - I’ll be attending NYU for sure - well, just as long as I get approved for private loans (which I’m sure I will).
