OFFICIAL October 8, 2005 SAT I Forum

lol i hope to break 2100 or at least break 700 in verbal and writing

What was the sermon one in MLK?

Well this is the last score that Harvard sees when they vote on me SCEA, so I hope I at least broke 2200, at the very least.

rhistanna thats a diff question but we were talking about the one where some woman got nobel prize- regarldess i put same answre as u for that question about theories

also the question about the drama acting teacher- “a character’s home” = their essence?

Predict/Hope to score: 800M, 750CR, ?? W (I ran out of time before my conclusion =/ )

rishtanna, I agree with you on the biologist question. It was an erroneous parallel statement
-not to sound cocky, but I studied strunk and white extensively and scored an 800 writing on the SAT I took during the spring.

My conclusion was only three sentences because of the time crunch, but I had a well developed five paragraph essay. I heard that they were told to weight the conclusion the least because they expected them to be cut short with the time constraints. Is that true?

700 M, 650 CR, 650 - 690 W

I’m not too concerned about the math, since I’m pretty sure my colleges are mixing & matching, but I’m feeling VERY not confident about the CR :frowning: I scored a 540 last time, and with hours of practice over the summer (which seem in vain during the test…) I’m praying for a 650. Writing is a toss up… it depends on the essay (I’m really hoping for a 10… I got an 8 before and it was about 1.25 pages but today’s was 1.8+ pages–I know they claim not to grade by length, but ya know!)… and I think I got 5+ MC writing questions wrong. A 2100 would be most awesome…

The same reason there are a half-dozen threads asking which section was the math experimental… nobody ever looks to see if their question has been addressed.

true…but that one question, if i recall, did not have an ‘official’ answer…the one dealing with the 9.5 and 3.5…b/c just said it’s ‘9.5’ or, ‘no it’s not, it’s 3.5’ and blah blah blah blah blah…but then again i could be mistaken

Ha, no, I checked, but it didn’t seem like anybody was discussing the cone question. Thats what made me think the math experimental must change by region. I live in the midwest, and most members are from the East coast.

Did the inequality one have an absolute value in it?

I thought it was just:

6<x-3<7. Thus, it seemed reasonable to me that 9.5 was the answer.

Sanguine, isn’t Elements of Style the best guide ever? I LOVE that book, and I’m not even an english person.

musuem is submitting proposals to several foundations in the hope to gain…"

I thought its “in” cuz it sounds better with the word "with "

for some reason, they had a lot of geometry questions, something I wasn’t expecting:(

ok, since I was trying to fix the most ■■■■■■■■ mistake one can ever make on SAT ( filling up the ovals in wrong place, and I had to transfer like 20 answers to the right place and erase the misplaced onese, thus I was totally panicked and rushed through section 5 with a frozen brain), I just need to know if I made any careless mistakes on the following questions:

(1+r/100)^4 = 2

the insymetrical letter is E

the answer for the 5n+3<=14 is 1/5

2x^y(2x^2y-1), which is either c or d, i don’t remember which one exactly, but I am pretty sure it’s not in A

the refrigerator sale discount: $6

the angle =15 degree, which is the question before the jkn ones
digits

no, the inequality one was 6<abs(x-3)<7, if x<0 what is the absolute value of x? so the most common response would be 3.5, but answers from 3.01 to 3.99 would be acceptable

agree with wow

dam that museum one got me lol but yea the 9.5 one there was absolute value and i think it said x<0 so -9.5 wud not work

btw the units digit was 0 right? i think it was 9<10<11

OK, JohnL. I almost put that answer too. In fact, I bubbled it in before realizing that a constraint was “x<0”. SO the asnwer must be btw 3 and 4.
