dun think great convictions is right imo… SAT dislikes answers which are exaggerated in general, and the adjective (grave sumthin) does not suggest GREAT conviction… but hey i mite be wrong.

i think the MLK passage was kinda difficult!!

I see how great conviction is not completely perfect, but how can saying someone is completely perfect be a neutral statement?

it’s not asking about the statement. it’s asking about the tone. so in effect nothing matters except for “grave sincerity”.

Im kinda disappointed now… after reading all this… i thought i did better but w/e

i was hoping for a 800 on math…but that wont happen now…i missed the question with t = -2…and the firetruck question…i put 4 but it was 6…arggg… im stupid…

i wonder what score ill get if i miss 2 or 3 on the math section??

Even without considering the statement, sincerity means genuineness, honesty. That agrees a lot more with conviction than with neutrality.

honesty and genuineness are not tones. those are sentiments. great conviction AS A TONE is much stronger than studied neutrality, and grave sincerity is more low-key. now i feel much more confident that studied neutrality was right.

Interesting viewpoint. We will only find out if somebody orders the QAS I guess…

or if one of us gets an 800 haha. although i probably missed a bunch of other passage questions.

If one of us gets 800, that still won’t settle it, because 1-2 wrong will probably be 800 material. But I highly doubt I got 800 because I got 2 wrong so far to my knowledge, and I did not understand the MLK passages.

well…they also tell us the number of questions we get wrong, and how many we omit…so then…whoever gets an 800, got 0 wrong, and omitted none had the right answer

Scores come out 10/24/05.
Is this at 12 AM? And if so, EST time?

i think i’ll check on 10/21/05 around 5 pm…i forget if they post the scores early for the new sat, but i know they were early with the old one…but then again, it’d be dumb to post on a friday, since if they did, everyone would be online wanting to see their scores, which would cause their computers to go into a nuclear meltdown which wouldn’t be able to be fixed until monday morning due to them not working during the weekends

I think studied neutrality might be right, now. Damnit I hate CB. Whoever chose those passages has to die. Anybody with me?

The scores are supposed to come out by 7 AM EST on the 24th.

i’m with you (if you’re talking about whoever chose the passages has to die)

Oh 7 AM…
Everytime the SAT scores are up, throngs of kids rush to our school library before first period to check the computers lol.

OKAY so 7 am.
I understand why haha.

Oh, and whoever picked these passages seriously needs to rot in hell.
I’m expecting a 600…or lower.
:(

It was “Great Conviction” Flipsta and not studied neutrality!!! Don’t let that garbage about “exaggerated adjectives” go to your head dawg. If that were the case, every answer on the SAT would be “studied neutrality”. Sometimes, authors do have strong opinions about their subject matter and this was definitely the case in the Cecil and Lucy story.

i wish they came out at 12 am-- last night i stayed up and didnt get them until 5:30

I hope it was great conviction, but I really have no idea any more. Those passages were BS. I studied for months, got 4 800s on recent practice tests, and therefore thought I was prepared for the October SAT. But no amount of preparation could have helped me on those ■■■■■■■■ passages. What a waste of time.

Flipsta, whats 4 wrong on Math??? Still 750 maybe??? Damn that firetruck problem!!!

P.S.: Flipsta, I want to take a fire engine and burn Collegeboard HQ to the ground!!!
