im officially screwed…was hoping to score higher than my previous 690…but with these four math wrong + any others, im scrweeeddd

isnt it wierd how 700 and 690 are only a 10 point diff yet (well atleast to me) 700 sounds way better

yeah…wish i could’ve gotten the 700 last time…eurg

What were some of the questions that were on the Math experimental?

Something about a computer with an answer of 70^2. Another experimental problem had socks involved in it.

What was z for:

z=x-y+4
z=…
z=…

ok i need this settled before it kills me. was the answer to that one question from the cecil passage studied neutrality or great conviction?

Great Conviction.

it is studied neutrality- cmon
he said with “grave sincerity”
grave sincerity does not sound like great conviction
it sounds like studied neutrality

remember that one problem asking what’s the probability of getting a sum of between 4 and 16 or something like that…and they gave you an equation…or something along those lines…i remember i put 2/5…

does anyone else remember that problem?

i also put studied neutrality, but some other people put great conviction, and i’m unsure. i wish someone could really explain it to me.

what i learned is that people often tend to overanalyze on the SAT
i think putting great conviction is a stretch and an example of overanalyzing

remember the passage said this
“blah blah blah blah is perfect,” he said with GRAVE SINCERITY.

if you read any book, the term “grave sincerity” is used to signify, above all, truth and not so much feeling. Great conviction has an implied sense of feeling, as if the person is convincing him or herself that something is absolutely true. On the other hand, studied neutrality shows someone looking at something objectively. “Grave sincerity” similarly signifies someone looking at something truthfully, for what it is, and not impacted by feeling. Great conviction implies that you are being impacted with feeling and are making some grandiose claim.

it can’t be ‘studied neutrality.’ the guy obviously loves her, you don’t say something with studied neutrality like a scholar when you have such feelings for someone. plus, when you say something with conviction, you don’t always have to be like…shouting or bursting with energy. it’s obviously ‘great conviction.’

let’s say you get get 1~2 wrong and you omit one…what score do you think you will get? and do you think the curve for math is going to be that generous this time around???

shhhh…
ok im not swearing here
got tricked by that firetruck question… ARGGHHHH i feel so dumb.
i was aiming for a full mark… or at least 780… kinda screwed now.

and i think i mucked up the critical reading sections so badly. seriously which was the experimental one? i really hope it’s the one i did the worst at… how many questions were there in the experimental section anyway?

yeah that makes sense. thanks a lot you just took a huge weight off my chest. i hate the critical reading section.

and btw did anyone order the question and answer service thingy? are we supposed to get our answers mailed back to us or sumthin?

if yes think i’ll be crying over my paper. jeez i thought it went well at first and the more think about it the worse it seemed to be.

au contraire myspiffyrosegirl. i actually read the book the passage came from (“a room with a view” if you care), and he does not love her. cecil is the typical rich uncaring villain of romance novels. so great conviction doesn’t fit in the novel as a whole, which leads me to doubt it fits in the passage. and i think you are reading this too deep now, because that was the first question for the passage and those are usually easy.

i thought it was inadvisable to bring outside knowledge with you into the SAT, even though whta you bring in may be right?

Great conviction = answer.

math - easy
verbal - I screwed up the MLK passage badly, as well as the dance instructor one, but i think i did well overall
writing - i didn’t finish the essay, but everything else was easy

in conclusion, blah
