OFFICIAL October 8, 2005 SAT I Forum

the writing ranges were not friendly in may; 640-770 range probably means more like 660 than 700-710

Please let it be studied nuetrality…

sorry,i disagree with u
only one works,if x-y=others,the x and y won’t be integers

Um… for the 70/3 one… i was really rushed on time so I skipped the calculator and tried to do it in my head in the last few seconds… in the end i put down 23.3 … which is technically the decimal approx. of the answer… will i get credit?

yes you will get credit

thanks… also for everyone worrying… it really does depend on the form…

for may 2005… i had the ‘harder’ form and i got 3x = 770… but my friend got the ‘easier’ form and got 3x = 750…

and for CR… ouch

march 05 = 16x 1o = 600
may 05 = 14x 2o = 610

sigh… its makes me depressed to think that even foreigners with english as their second language can do better than me (my friend from taiwan scored an 800 and she doesn’t even go to an American / international school!)

what do you mean by “harder form”?
were you referring to math?

(my friend from taiwan scored an 800 and she doesn’t even go to an American / international school!)

That’s because math in Asia pwns math in America.

smurf- for the may sat’s i had reading experimental and my friends who had the same passages as me unanimously agreed that the math on that form was ‘somewhat difficult’ … and the grading curves apparently showed this

Can someone please summarize the acting passage? None of it made sense.

The author started off as saying that words were very powerful and that the body followed to whatever was said. And then she said that she didnt like the traditional way of acting because she thought instead of being the character, it brought the character to the actor. I.E. comparing themselves to the character and minglingly psychological personas, is one way of explaining it…instead of being “pure” character. The author felt that this was hindering the art and she thought it was repetitive and boring. But she needed proof that she was right and that the traditional way was wrong.

I dunno, that’s how I thought about it.

I got a 680 V and a 670 SAT II lit if you want reference.

well i still feel it is great conviction now that I looked more closely at the adjectives

he said it with grave sincerity,
“grave” in context means looking and sounding very serious
“sincerity” means the quality of being honest, and really meaning or believign what you say
These were all taken from a dictionary

Put the two adjectives together and I got the feeling that Cecil really meant what it when he said Lucy was without flaws

Now, saying something with “great conviction” simply means that Cecil was completely convinced with what he said. Based on the adjectives used, I believe that he really did believe Lucy was perfect, which is why he was so anxious as Mr.BeeBe started to suggest some possible flaws in Lucy

“Great conviction” might sound like a strong word in another context(like the courtroom), but all it means is that somebody truly believes what he/she says. “Studied neutraility” means that the person said something without any bias, which I don’t think was the case here.

agrophob, lets hope collegeboard sees it your way

I agree with the above. But now focus on the less disciplined/passionate argument because I picked less disciplined. :P

Is It Possible To Get Minus One On Math And Still Get 800?!?!

i agree with agrophobic so damn much

there’s absolutely no way way to still get an 800. might as well just cut yourself.

Usually, that doesn’t happen. You’ll get a 780 or 790. However, on the May SAT with the form with verbal experimental, I got an 800 with getting 1 wrong. So it is possible, but it probably won’t happen.

On the math section, I missed the maximum area triangle one (w/ sides 7 and 10) and the second firetruck one (the # of ways to get to the point) and I omitted three questions. Could I still get a 700?

If you got two wrong and three omits, then you get -5 raw score, so that would be 710. you are likely to get it, but you never know… you hafve 80% of chance to get above 700. good luck!

ndnzn:

You raw score is a 48. (54-5-.25-.25)

The score range for that score in math is 670-730. You have a good chance of getting a 700 if the curve is normal.

Speculation about the curve is pointless. Although I might add that I found the CR and math sections harder than the blue book tests. The writing sections seemed normal.

I was freaking out when I did the first (experimental) writing section- it was significantly harder than all the practice tests. When I turned to the much easier second writing section (which was directly after the first) I was relieved.

Good luck everyone.
