Congrats to all those that got in. A lot of people have been hearing back including my last friend who was waiting to get her decision. We were actually surprised because I think she scored somewhere from 1400-1500 on her SATs out of 2400, and she’s been waiting since September.

shogunzek…are you saying your friend was accepted to UP with SATs 1400-1500? Do you happen to know what her GPA is and if she has a hook or not?

Yes, UP. She was admitted into the summer session however, same as me. I’m not sure of her GPA, probably about a 3.6-3.7 at my best guess. And she’s a white female in-state with really no hook at all.

Hey all! I’ve been checking this thread since October to try and figure out if I could get into UP. But my stats are borderline, and I was really unconfident about it.

But today in school I checked my online status and discovered that I got into UP!!! I got into the summer session, but I’m completely fine with that. It’s my 2nd choice so I might end up not going, but I’m excited ! :D

Decision: Accepted ! Summer 2010, University Park Campus

Best ACT : Math (27) Reading (25) English (27) Science (23)

GPA: 3.6 weighted.

Essays: very good, i’m going to be a writer and alll… :)

Teacher Recs: didn’t submit to PSU.

Counselor Rec: very good

Hook (if any): tons of extracurricular activities and leadership positions.

General Comments: I’m shocked, but happy!!!

TO ALL OF THOSE STILL WAITING WITH BORDERLINE STATS: don’t worrry!!! I applied in September and thought all this waiting was a bad thing but really it turned out to be a great thing. My SATs were horrrrrrible, and my GPA wasn’t great, so I didn’t expect this. But they’ll surprise you. Good Luck !

General Comments: I thought I was going to be sent to Erie my satellite choice, but I was very happy to see I got summer. My status changed yesterday to " you will know in a couple of days" and I was accepted this morning. Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting!

Okay… well he is obviously a very smart guy. I would just worry about the GPA which is a little low compared to his test scores… But if he wrote a personal statement and has okay EC he should be fine. But I think teh GPA might hurt him since it is worth 2/3 of admission

DS
Rejected for UP Campus Architecture Major (which is in effect a complete reject since Arch isn’t offered anywhere else)
SAT: 1840/2400
GPA: 3.6
Top 25% of class

acme sorry to hear the news. My daughter has exact stats and was also rejected. (Ag school) As I posted previously, she is happily headed to Florida state but there are several kids at her school that have been accepted to UP fall semester with worse stats. The all applied “undecided”. I called admissions and they claim that the only major that you need higher stats for is business. All other majors are considered equally. Not sure I buy that and when I asked why kids with lesser stats get accepted, she really couldn’t answer. I have a daughter that’s a junior at UP and was hopeful this daughter might change her mind if accepted. (Fla is so far!) Wishful thinking on my part but good luck with everything!

acme>>>> Are you out of state? or in the state? because there are always options at a junior college or city college. then transfer. because if you really want to do architecture, don’t let this stop you.

ArchKid and slipjig, it’s fine–architecture is such a tough major to get into, and DS has already been accepted to a few other schools, and has a few more yet to hear from. Thanks for the kind words and best of luck to all at PSU.

my status was finally changed this morning to the “you will hear in the coming days”…i applied for the fall 2010 session but if i dont get in but get into the summer session will it specify that i got into the summer and not fall? i dont want it to say congratulations on your acceptance and me get all excited and then get the envelope with the summer session info…deos it say congrats on fall 2010 or summer 2010? thank you!
