I would guess 5:00.

That seems to be the accepted norm.

Except for, say, Brown, which moves in waves.

March has really slllllooooowwwwwweeeeeeddddd dddddoooowwwwwnnnnn.

I got my University of Rochester decision last week, and now I’m chomping on the bit to hear back from more! Supposedly CHicago might be coming out tommorow…

thirteen days. :o

^ Butternut, me too! I’ve heard back from a few UC’s in the past couple of weeks and I just want to hear back some more! I’ve got 7 schools to hear back from and am a little jealous of the people I know who are all done with the waiting game…

Oooh, I found a really good stress reliever: Go read the SAT Prep forum, where everyone is freaking out about the March SAT. Silly juniors. :)

^

Fools. I bet they skipped questions.

Amateurs.

ahaha, that just made my day. Those days of SAT stress were so long ago! I’m glad that’s done with :-)

Maybe I should open my backpack and attempt some homework, lol…

Time is like a snail,
Slow slow slow.
Time is like runny molasses on a hot summer day,
Drip drip drip.

event horizon

even this forum has slowed down, its kind of depressing cause everytime i log on it used to fill my time reading things

^ that slow down is due to the fact all of us used to do the same thing. Now, we realize we may be spending just a leeeeetle too much time on CC. I got on the computer to do Chinese, and somehow I ended up here. Wonder how that happened?

It used be entertaining though…
Even though i take a little time in understanding american sarcasm ;)

Omg…i just realised…i have my berkeley decisions in a week :o

lmao amadeuic i bet they skipped questions, yea i agree because most people have 0 knowledge of basic probability
12 more days ehhhhhhh

hahaha ^ I remember the first few times I took the SAT and left stuff blank. ah, those days…

the SAT was cake compared to the admissions process…

ahh nostalgia

Speaking of the admissions process…does anyone else feel like they could do a good job of reading applications and helping make decisions?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I could do a good job as a member of the admissions committee.

It’d be fun if it were less exhausting, I’d imagine.

i was thinking about that this morning. so weird to find it on here ![]()
i think id be good at it.

ontheradio: what would be your criteria…
would you be more impressed by insanely good essays. Or more impressed by an outstanding SAT/ACT score… idk. Just wondering. But i think I would do a fine job myself. Well except towards the very very end. Once we must make a cut between the last (lets say 30) applicants. Weeding them out would be tough then…

I think being an admissions officer would be just an interesting (albeit insanely stressful) job!
I would look for a certain level of achievement on SAT’s but beyond that, would rely a lot on essays and recs. I’d probably throw kids out of the pile for taking SAT’s more than twice, too.

I would completely throw out the letters of recommendation for the most part.

It’s not the kid’s fault if he happened to pick a teacher, even one whom he or she had a strong rapport with, who uses a generic recommendation for everyone.

I would probably put a lot more emphasis on SAT’s. That isn’t to say I’d never accept a 1400 and always accept a 1600, but I think I’d be more inclined to let strong SAT’s compensate for a “middling” GPA than vice versa.

Essays are key. I don’t want to see you be pretentious, but I want to see something unique in your writing. And none of this “out there to be out there” garbage. If you’re truly like that, it will come across in your writing, and selecting to write about, say, your right index finger is not going to make me happy.

I probably wouldn’t be too harsh on people who did multiple retakes, as long as it’s within reason and wasn’t, say, to boost a 1590 to a 1600.

I’d also try to put a heavy emphasis on the interview, but obviously not everyone can be interviewed and unfortunately another person’s write-up really isn’t the greatest source of information.

Oh, and ECs are really, really important. Duh.
