Does the Harvard admissions dean read all the applications?

According to the article that I read the Dean of Admissions along with one other senior admission officer read all the applications when they first come in and separate out those who really are not competitive. Then they get divided up into regions and the regional admission officers read them. At most other ivy league schools just the regional admission officer and someone else in the regional committee reads them.

collegebound5 - Pton & Yale do require 3 SAT IIs even if you take the ACT w/ writing.

I did not realize that.
Thanks

I heard at Pton there are “lower” admissions officers and they separate apps into 3 piles: likely, iffy, and unlikely. They only send the iffies up to the senior admission officers.

So what happens to the likelys?

Likelys get rejected, its a sick trick!

I’m not sure about "regional "admissions officers at Princeton. I do know a rep. came to my d’s school and he gave her his e-mail address to contact him if she had questions. When she had updates she was told by her college counselor to send them to the rep.She did so.She’s an ed admit to Princeton.

“Likelys get rejected, its a sick trick!”
haha…

yeah, that comment made my day! :)

aww boo
Not funny
I still haven’t received anything from Wellesley
And I’m a likely
Sad, isn’t it? haha

Oh miss zanna!!
WE MISS YOU!

well look who it is!

reps are not regional admissions officers, i think. they just “help out” the office (eg. “selling” Pton, give talks, etc.)

but a family friend was a regional admissions officer for an area, so i dont know if thats correct that theres no regional admissions officers…but then again, its been about 5-10 years

haha I miss everyone here toooo.
I always forget to come to the Princeton forum
Because it’s all separated with the Ivies
And it’s not listed where all the other colleges are

Anyway.
I know this is the Princeton forum
BUT I STILL HAVEN’T GOTTEN MY ACCEPTANCE FROM WELLESLEY.
Even the rejections have all been received.
Watch me be the first likely to ever get rejected in the history of Wellesley.

I love how this is one of the most posted threads, and it’s the ED decision thread. Tough for people looking through next year’s class to find all the results :D

Isn’t this the coolest shirt ever?

(If you end up going to a diff. Ivy, they do this design for all of 'em)

^^Yeah, but it does seem a bit arrogant.

^That’s great! ;)
