i hate the fact that we used the alternate test date…so we dont get anything but our scores…no questions…no correct answers…no explanations…just three numbers.

Okay, so does that mean that a 217 still has a chance of being a finalist in New York, because possibly New York did badly this year on it? Let’s hope so…

I took a Saturday test. Apparently they don’t let you know until September!! if you made it or not. What a bunch of morons. Why don’t they know that now???

Scores 78 reading, 73 math, 76 writing.

I missed three on writing; I missed one math multiple choice and 1 student response. That math curve is horrible. I forgot the critical reading details and my report is at school. I missed two maybe three.

WHAT!!! minus one math is a 73!!!

Lol nevermind turkeybreath98
didnt see the minus 1 grid-in

That is still crazy. God I hate collegeboard and their raping ways…

Did anyone who did Sem-finalist level on the PSAT get any special mail competitive Ivy League colleges before the test? Is it bad if you haven’t gotten this mail already? I checked on the test not to send the colleges my PSAT scores. Any comments?

At least the verbal + writing curves are the same as last year’s :)

I just need to keep on hoping I didn’t make any stupid errors in the math sections

TURKEYBREATH: if you have your score report now or if it’s at school (and you would be kind) would you like to post the correct answers (in a, b, c, etc. or number for grid-in) you’d be my hero…I programmed all my answers into my calculator and I won’t be getting it until January (those bastards at school) so I’d like to know how many I missed
Thanks

There’s actually an entire post on this website that has a link to the official answers on the college board website. Search around and go back a few pages and you should find it. It’s titled something like “PSAT Answers Online” or something like that. Check your answers there. That’s what I did, even though I do not remember half of the questions. I still think I did pretty well. Surprisingly well on the Critical Reading.

i wish i would have programmed my answers into my calculator

I want to point out that the cut-off scores aren’t accurate (or someone somewhere is lying to me) because a few people at my school scored above the cut-off posted for my state last year, and they didn’t even get commended…Anyone else know of anything like this?

(I live in Mississippi. We have around the LOWEST supposed cut-off. The people I’m talking about made around 209 to 215 and they didn’t even get commended.)

korey, then something is very wrong, because the commended cutoff for this year’s seniors was 201 nationally. Mississippi’s NM semi cutoff was not much higher, 203 I think. Both of the people you mentioned should be semi-finalists.

when does college board announce the cutoff for semifinal and commended score every year? 2nd semester of junior year? august? september?

It said September on my score report. 10 months?? What a joke.

haz: you’re my hero. :)

I now know that I totally f’ed up on CR…according to what’s been posted, it looks like the one in the practice PSAT book is pretty accurate. So based on that, I got 212
which means I’ll get commended? maybe? Stupid CA and their stupid smartness.

BUMP bump!!!

Can you guys tell me the predicted cut-off score for Massachusetts? It was 222 last year…this year, I fear it will be higher since all the people I know feel they did very well.

We don’t have any way to predict this year’s cutoff. It depends on what the scores in your state are. Scores are ‘usually’ within 2 or 3 points of the prior year’s, up or down.

^^ meaning I probably won’t make it unless it’s super generous (My score’s ~212, depending on the curving thing). But rumors are the class of 06 is really smart (so I guess it’s not just at my school) compared to 05…yet it’s a new test…
